1. Team: I have the most recent HD, which since I have implemented a SAN statistic and other successful elements. One thing I was wondering, is there a way to put an overall ActivePoint and/or Damage Class cap for warning purposes, so that when a player takes and uses a maximum AP value for an attack, then tries to add in a STR and/or DC bonus to go WAY beyond what the game caps are, I can load their character in my HD and point out they are above said cap in the game. I know HD is meant to be flexible, based on the GM's permissions, but at times, players may take advantage of this and it is difficult to argue it with them, unless there is a clear notification to them. Is there a way via a combination of rules and/or templates via the macros to achieve this, or would we need to access the API to do such? Thanks... Chuck D. aka "Jujitsuguy"
2. When creating characters in Hero Designer v6 it will not take the value of Complications Points (see Below) The following is from Eagle Eye which I downloaded from the Hero site. Base: 325 Matching Complications: 75 Complication Points Used: 75 Experience Earned: 0 Experience Spent: 75 (This is in red stating that is not correct) Unspent Experience: 0 Total Points Spent: 400 (This is also in red) As you can see here it is not using the Complications Points.
3. Issues with Hero Designer Lag

I'm having weird lag with Hero Designer. This only happened today after using for about three months. Adding limitations and now my sheet is broken, opening the sheet causes massive lag that never goes away, opening any other sheet is fine. Restarting the computer does absolutely nothing either. Help?
4. I tried to past some rather large bits of text from other files I use as character notes into the fields on the HERO 6th edition character file I have. There is no way to past the text and there is no way I'm retyping all of that. You need to have HERO Designer support copy and paste as well as drag and drop. Windows ushers are used to being able to copy/cut and paste from anything to anything, and Mac users are used to doing likewise with drag and drop.
5. Here's what's happening to me in HD: I want to create a gun for the new administrator of the PCs' team. And she'd probably have several. So I'm setting them up in the Multipower, and adding the Common Modifier Charges. I select 8 Charges, which is a -1/2 Limitation. Then I check Clips, because she'd have extra ammo. 2 Clips is a +1/4 mod to the Limitation, so it moves up to -1/4. I push it up farther, to 4 Clips, which brings the total Limitation up to 0. She'd be serious about this stuff; she doesn't have powers herself, and knows she may have to fight the team sooner or later. So I consider 6 or 8 clips? When I step the Clips adder up, it goes not to 8 but 16, for a +3/4 Adder, making the total value of the Limitation ...0. At first, I didn't understand the step from 2 to 8, but after consulting the Book (6E1 369), I found where pushing into Advantage territory gives you 4x the clips at each new step. However, what HD is not doing is showing it as an Advantage. The total Limitation Value, when it becomes an Advantage, never rises above -0. 32 Charges should be +1/4, but instead shows as 0. 250 Charges should be +1, but instead shows as 0. 2000 Charges should be +1 3/4, but instead shows as 0. I can work around this with Custom Advantage, but someone not checking the math might get filled with a false sense of security. So I thought you ought to know.
6. Hero Designer Prefab creator

Version 1.1

This is an Excel spreadsheet that generates Hero Designer prefabs using Custom Skills and Custom Powers. It works best for creating lists of items such as equipment. It does not add (or extract) advantages or limitations though these can be added in Hero Designer. It can separate groups of data into Lists. Once appropriate data has been entered, paste the resulting output in to an empty HDP file. For Equipment: Captures Name, Description, Price, and Weight. For Skills: Captures Name, Description, Skill cost, End Cost, Skill roll. Options for custom skill or skills using the Power Skill For Powers: Captures Name, Description, Real Cost, End Cost Description Example: Given the following block of text if entered in the Description area of the spreadsheet: Creates a small bubble of acid that is hurled at the target
Ranged Killing Attack 1 point (vs. PD), Penetrating (+1/2), Uncontrolled (+1/2), Continuous (+1) (15 Active Points); 1 Continuing Charge lasting 1 Turn (-1 1/4), Gestures (-1/4), Incantations (-1/4), Extra Time (Delayed Phase, Only to Activate, -1/4) This is applied to the Display area of a HD power resulting in: (Note italics and separation of first and second line. Creates a small bubble of acid that is hurled at the target Ranged Killing Attack 1 point (vs. PD), Penetrating (+1/2), Uncontrolled (+1/2), Continuous (+1) (15 Active Points); 1 Continuing Charge lasting 1 Turn (-1 1/4), Gestures (-1/4), Incantations (-1/4), Extra Time (Delayed Phase, Only to Activate, -1/4) Instructions are included for use and sample data to get a better idea of how this works. This was designed in the Open Office spreadsheet and converted to XLS. I have not been able to verify its full functionality in Excel. If there are issues or questions, please let me know.
7. If you are interested in being able to launch Hero Designer from the Windows taskbar, this link tells you how to achieve this for java jar apps. Its not perfect as while Hero Designer is running there will be two HD icons, the short cut and the program (see image). It worked for me. https://superuser.com/questions/975687/how-to-pin-an-executable-jar-to-start-in-windows-10
8. Hero Grimoire I - Simplified

Version 1

This is for campaigns where the point cost of the spell to the character is not the "correct" real cost. Example: The actual real cost of a spell is 30 real point (100 active cost). If, in the campaign, all spells cost 3 characters points then when the character buys this new spell then the spell from this prefab is added to the regular character sheet to reflect/track the expenditure of 3 character points. A second character sheet/HD file is used to track the actual spell and mechanical information (power, limitations, advantages, etc) plus END cost. Designed for 5e and 6e, This is a list of the spells names from the Hero System Grimoire I. They have been converted to 3 point Custom Powers and POWER skills for campaigns that treat spells as either individual skills or charge a fixed cost for each spell. These default to treat all spells skills as INT based and all CUSTOM POWER spells as 3 point spells. Instructions are included that hopefully make it easy to change the skill base characteristics and point costs in mass. You will still need the Hero Designer Grimoire I HD pack and/or Grimoire I book for the mechanics/descriptions of the spells.
9. I am looking to create or use a skill, talent, perk, etc within Hero Designer to track a quantity, specifically the number of spells of character has. In the campaign, spells cost 3 points each and are listed under Equipment. This ability will basically track the levels and show a cost of LVL x 3 in order to track points spent. Therefore 3 spells should cost 9 points. The problem is that I am looking to be able to display something like "Know Spells: 3". I can rename an existing power such as Combat Skill levels to do this but then the output is "Know Spells: +3". The "plus" gives the impression that represents and extra 3 spells. Its minor but it bugs me. I am using the Grimoire I & II HD packs so re-working the spells to make them 3 points each in to much of an effort. I have tried to create a custom template with a new talent but have not been able to get the new talent to show levels just the point totals. Any suggestions are appreciated.
