She was built for one Sam Murdock so he could hunt down the black Cadillac (the devil car in the title) that killed his brother. Jenny is a sports car, bright red in color, said to be a "carefree Swinger sedan." She is well armed and armored, and equipped with a sophisticed artifical intellegence allowing her to converse with Murdock, drive by herself, and make tactical decisions. Designer's Notes: "Devil Car" looks to be part of a trilogy of sorts in which Zelazny describes a post-nuclear war world. The other two stories are "Auto-de-Fé" and "Last of the Wild Ones" (a direct sequel to "Devil Car"). "Devil Car" mentions a "fused Plain" and background radiation, while "Auto-de-Fé" describes a world that is slowly descending into what seems to be a more primitive state in which technology is being forgotten. Jenny is built using the optional rule for giving vehicles INT and EGO described on page 15-16 of "The Ultimate Vehicle." This seemed to work best for simulating her computer brain, rather than build a whole seperate Computer character sheet.
