RDU Neil
Tyring to verify this... seems to be a wide angle of the blackhole, in order to see the mass being consumed by this huge thing.
L. Marcus
I think that pic encompasses the whole of the M87 galaxy -- the bright tail sprouting rightwards from the core matches pretty well with the central jet in visible light pics I've seen. Also, the above image is in the X-ray spectrum. RDU Neil

L. Marcus
No prob. I'm just speculating, just so you know. But, as you say, the Chandra telescope is X-ray only. I'd like a bit more details about your image ... But here's a composite X-ray and radio image, courtesy of Wikipedia: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/83/M87_Super-Volcano.jpg/1024px-M87_Super-Volcano.jpg

Old Man
There is some question as to whether it was lost or merely fell over on the barge.

Lord Liaden
With everything we learn, new mysteries will be found. And I love that. On the one hand, it reminds us how little we truly understand. On the other, that reminder spurs us to keep striving to discover. tkdguy and pinecone
