tkdguy
Technically, interstellar travel is possible. But will it ever be practical? NASA's first all-female spacewalk?

The ratio of cost to benefit has a big effect on the evaluation of practicality. If we keep doing what we're currently doing to this planet that ratio is going to shift. Lord Liaden
It seems to mostly be the fun, creative stuff that's discussed and devised outside the conference room when astronomers from all over hang together; with an emphasis on how to make this stuff accessible and interesting to the average person. tkdguy

DShomshak
Did anyone see the transit of Mercury? I missed it. (Though I might not have been able to see it anyway, here on the West Coast -- and IIRC the morning was cloudy.) Dean Shomshak
tkdguy
Ditto. I'm sure there are a bunch of photos and videos if you missed it. I decided it was too early for me, and it was cloudy anyway. Plus, I had no means to view it live.
Cancer
I didn't try to watch it ... I don't get many opportunities to sleep in, and I didn't have an adequate safety rig in any case.

Old Man
Happened to be in Florida for the recent Unicorn meteor shower. Saw no shower, but I did catch one pretty bright one while walking through the Pollo Tropical parking lot. Yes, I made a wish. No, I won't tell you what it was. You were _that_ close, and said _nothing_?! Damn but that sucks! And yeah: the Unicorn was a complete bust here, too. I think we saw like .... four? Six? Not worth the way I felt all day at work the next day, I can tell you that. L. Marcus
