Susano
Re: Dark Champions the Anime Series Here's my list of potential character sheet to be developed for Black Lagoon Hero: Balalaika (Boss of Hotel Moscow, the Russian Mafia) Bennie (Black Lagoon's tech expert) Dutch (Black Lagoon's boss) Eda (Nun for the Church of Violence) Ginji Matsuzaki (Yakuza bodyguard and death on foot with a katana) Hansel and Gretel (twin sociopath assassins) Revy (Rebecca) (Black Lagoon's psychopathic gun-fu girl) Roberta (maid, bodyguard, Terminator) Rock (Black Lagoon's negotiator) Sawyer the Cleaner (scary lady with a chain-saw) Shenhua (Taiwanese assassin/mercenary) Yukio Washimine (Yakuza gang boss) Notes: While not important to the overall plot, Sawyer is just too weird to leave out. In addition, Shenhua is too sexy (have you seen her character design?) and too funny to leave out. The rest are either main characters are fairly central to various plot arcs and deserve inclusion. Edsel
Re: Dark Champions the Anime Series A good selection of characters. Will you do a World Book as well? What about the boat? I may see what I can do towards writing it up. It looks like an old WWII PT boat. I have been doing a little research and the Black Lagoon seems to most likely be a 78' Higgins design. A late war design of which hundreds were built. The guns have been removed, I guess to keep them from being so obviously armed and thereby keeping them from drawing unwanted official attention from the various legitimate navies and coast guards. The four canister torpedo tubes have been left on. I wonder if they only had the two forward tubes loaded? I wonder if they ever reloaded them? The boat has 4 tubes and could have up to four torpedoes but they may be empty now. Finding replacements that would work with those tubes would probably be very difficult. Other problems: These boats were wooden. High maintenance. But from the amount of shooting that occurs on board the Black Lagoon it seems more like it is metal. Perhaps it has had major, inobvious refitting done. A 78' Higgins-design had three 1500 hp gasoline powered engines. These could push the boat at up to 40 knots. However it also consumed 292 gallons of 100-octane fuel per hour. Very expensive to operate. And a lucky hit could easily set the boat afire. Perhaps they have refitted to diesel engines, less top speed but much more economical. Bennie's electronics, the radio, navigation gear and radar mean that the boat has had a completely new electrical system installed. That wooden hull would mean frequent dry docking for hull maintenance. To make the boat feasible to operate it is almost more reasonable to say it is a metal/fiberglass replica of an original WWII PT Boat with all the new tech installed. But that poses the question of where on earth did Dutch get such a boat?
Susano
Re: Dark Champions the Anime Series A good selection of characters. Will you do a World Book as well? Yes. I'm trying to decide on a good title of the world book. "See You Space Cowboy" was obvious for Cowboy Bebop, but I have nothing for this series. What about the boat? I may see what I can do towards writing it up. It looks like an old WWII PT boat. I have been doing a little research and the Black Lagoon seems to most likely be a 78' Higgins design. But that poses the question of where on earth did Dutch get such a boat? I think they had the one torpedo see in episodes 1 & 2 and none after that. It seems to be a metal-topped boat... It might have new engines (it's fast, but not that fast, and goes long distances), but as for the hull maintenance, I'm willing to call "Anime Physics" and not kill any catgirls. Edsel
Re: Dark Champions the Anime Series I'd say building them on the Heroic level is the way to go. Susano, do you have Dark Champions? It has a lot of power-based cinematic skills (Super Skills) that would work very well with this setting. A lot of the Gun-Fu stuff would be especially useful. I have started building the Black Lagoon and I'll post what I've got in a little bit. Hopefully I can get some critiquing to improve upon my initial build. It has been ages since I built a vehicle and so it feels a little clumsy to me. As for help in building the characters... It's hard to think where to begin. I think you know them as well or better than I. Obviously Revy/Levy has a ton of Psych Limits. I have been reviewing the manga and realized that she is even screwed up on the sexual level. She is amazed at what is going on in some of the porn that Balalaika is reviewing, but when she and Rock go by the strip joint the owner knows her since she used to dance there doing some sort of S&M act, when he asks her to come back she says no "not even if it involves whipping." poster below edited to conform with the "no cursing" rule. Susano
Re: Dark Champions the Anime Series Would you be building them on a Heroic level? I highly suspect they'll be built just like the Cowboy Bebop characters. Which means some may be 75 point base and some may be 150-200. Michael Hopcroft
Re: Dark Champions the Anime Series Where are you getting the manga scans from? Most good video players will enable you to take a "snapshot" of a video program anytime you wish. Handy in the extreme for making screenshots or just about any video programming. "Scanlations" are available through many of the same underground sources as anime fansubs. The main difference is that while many anime producers could care less about fansubs, manga publishers loathe scanlations as a direct threat to their business model.
