My original notes on my game can be found here.

After a brief hiatus while someone else ran their game, we're back for season two. At least, that was what I joked when I paused the game was that season 1 was over, if they ratings were good enough there would be a season 2.

Newly Named NPCs was something I started doing when a nameless thug does something memorable thanks to a good roll or the RP. If the thug survives, then they'll be coming back, if only for comic relief in one case.

Season 1 Synopsis is as follows:

1. Holiday in Haiti

The group is sent to Haiti to rescue a local Voudoun who had agreed to assist the Helsing Insitute in researching Voodoo. After some minor skirmishes they tracked down to kidnappers to a rival group and attacked their base, a formerly abandoned mansion. While rescuing the Voudoun they encountered a zombie that showed more intelligence and purpose than was common. The voudoun revealed he'd been kidnapped because he stole a demon artifact from his rival that would allow him to trap souls inot dead bodies. The intelligent zombie was the only one made before the artifact was stolen. The group chased down the rival voudoun and stole the artifact, a golden bowl engraved with infernal script, but was forced to flee to infernal zombie who was still chasing them, finally sending him over a cliff with one of their cars. The group destroyed the bowl, then later research revealed that the bowl was required to destroy the infernal zombie.

Loose Ends: The group encountered a mysterious 'Max' who was said to be a very powerful necromancer. He was buying barrels of a substance he had specially made to assist necromancers in raising zombies on a large scale.

No one believed they had seen the last of the infernal zombie.

2. Vampires in San Angelo

PART (Praeternatural Action Response Team), the division of the San Angelo police just created to deal with supernatural crimes, requests assistance from the Helsing Institute. Vampires are being killed and they lack the occult knowledge to handle the weirder aspects of the case. The group discovered that whoever was killing vampires had some real occult knowledge and had their first brushes with Humans Against Vampires, a PAC legally working to harass vampires while pushing for an amendment to make them illegal again. The group also fought with Humans First, a radical splinter of HAV that was using violence instead of picketing.

The group checked out the local vampires and found the mysterious Master of the City was waiting to see if human justice would stop vampires from being killed. In the meantime, he was willing to sacrifice a few young vampires to see how this worked. The group connected HAV to the killings and investigated. Frank was captured and tortured by HAV before the group rescued him. Further investigation revealed the wererats were really behind the killings. The local wererats were trying to set them up as the true power in the city, and their first step in making the vampires look weak was the killings. The group put a stop to this, killing the brother of the wererat alpha in the process.

Loose ends: HAV and Humans First are still out there and pissed off at the group.

Diego Cruz, the wererat alpha, has sworn vengeance against the group.

Newly Named NPCs: Scarface: Nameless thug who tortured Frank, then had his face crushed when Frank got free. He'll be back after some reconstructive surgery.

Stumpy: Nameless wererat the group had a vicious fight with. Had him tail cut off by Master Teng. He'll be back for revenge.

3. New Orleans meets Millennium

Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, but this was only the start. As the water started to rise, a surprisingly large number of zombies started to appear, attacking and eating people. both the numbers and ferocity of the zombies let authorities to believe this was not some random incident. Once the group arrived to consult they found a military helicopter on the way to the Superdome had been shot down under mysterious circumstances. They investigated and found that the numerous rounds that had riddled the helicopter were actually a single shot, a musket ball infused with demonic energy. The group fought zombies, demon cultists, demon dogs and met flamboyant Brandenburg Hex, an occultist who claimed to be the adopted brother of John Hex.

Further investigation revealed a pattern to the zombie attacks that seemed calculated to drive people toward the Superdome. The group were informed that a passenger plane had been shot down over New Orleans, but the contacts of a couple members revealed it had been a special military mission to test a new weapon against undead, a extremely short lived virus that would devour all flesh in an area then die off. The weapon had been stolen by the time the group arrived to investigate, though they confirmed the same demonic musket that shot down the helicopter also shot down the plane.

A nervous Brandenburg Hex directed the group to a spot where they could find who was behind this. the group encountered Lt. Van Winkle, a tall thin cheerful vampire with an ancient looking musket. The vampire revealed she was with Millennium, a group that planned to start a war 'like hell on earth'. Van Winkle was significantly tougher than any vampire the group had previously faced and they barely escaped into the sunlight. They rushed back to the Superdome, realizing Brandenburg Hex planned to sacrifice tens of thousands of people inside. They arrived just in time to stop him from using the virus to kill everyone and instead he was infected with then virus.

Loose ends: What is Millennium, and who is this mysterious vampire with the demonic musket, and why are they trying to devastate earth?

Max's zombie juice was used to raise the masses of zombies involved. How is he involved in this?

The infernal zombie made an appear again and seemed to be after Rory, the only one in the group able to make the bowl that can destroy him. The zombie also seemed more intelligent then before.

4. Trick or Treat!

A local shop keeper asks Master Teng for help with a ghost. Teng investigates by himself and is slimed by a ghostly girl, while the shop is rattled by and things are knocked over by some invisible force. The others show up to help Teng and the investigation reveals it's not a real haunting. Instead some witches are involved who seem to have a grudge against the shop keeper. The shopkeeper admits to turning a girl over to the police for shop lifting. The police had no record of this, the officer in question furtively claimed to have given the girl a talking to and let her go. Further investigation using talents not admissible in a court of law revealed the policeman had tried selling the girl to the local tong, but she had escaped with some help. Staking out the police car and shop allowed the group to catch the small group of runaway kid witches harassing the shop keeper and the cop while seeking revenge. After some false starts, the group managed to calm down the kids and are trying to help them now.

Loose ends: Officer Humphrey Cavendish is suspected of being a dirty cop. The group is 100% sure he's crooked but can't prove it in a court of law.

5. The Bow of Kali

Alexander Monday wakes up one morning to a visit from the police, finding himself the chief suspect in the theft of a mystical artifact known as the Bow of Kali. The case is thin enough that Monday is not immediately arrested but much of the news coverage is slanted toward his guilt, while skirting the line of libel carefully. Working with their contacts in PART, the group determines that someone had broken into the museum and stolen the bow, leaving a less than perfect copy in it's place. An old enemy of Monday, a retired FBI who had been chasing him for years, was happy to confirm the the theft used the normal techniques Monday would use.

The group investigated who would buy the bow, had a run in with the Thuggees, who were also after the bow, discovered that very likely the source of the frame was a very wealthy businessman Monday had stolen from a few years ago. The thief was someone trained by the same thief who trained Monday. She tried holding out for more cash and ended up in a ton of trouble as well. the group ended up breaking up the meeting where the bow was to be turned over to the fixer who arranged the deal. The bow was recovered, but the PCs had second thoughts. So Monday created a perfect fake and the group cooperated with an occult order that specializes in destroying artifacts that threaten the safety of the world to destroy the bow for good. Hopefully.

Newly Named NPC: Rebecca. Formerly GunGirl #1. Despite having the same mediocre thug stats as all the other thugs in a battle, managed to hit the PC's with almost every shot she tried, wounding two pretty badly before she was knocked out. Could change this to Revy...

6. On 'Hunting Banshees' (Thee Ancient O'Tuile Wae).

The group's assistance is requested by a local sheriff in Nevada, where the body of a 23 year old man was found...apparently dead of old age. By the time the group had arrived at the location, currently covered in a blizzard, military intelligence was already in the area, taking over the investigation from the local police and impounding evidence. The group used their government contacts to find out there had been an experiment in the area that had gone wrong, but could find no other details. They determined that the deceased had been traveling with another man and tracked him to the hunting lodge he had broken into for shelter.

The man admitted he'd been part of a research team trying to create a sound that would kill people, when used in a particular way or on a particular frequency. The research had not been going well but the group's old friend Max was brought in to consult and hit upon the idea of summoning a banshee and recording the shrieks. He knew where one was imprisoned and a way to bind her. the binding had gone wrong and everyone except Max and the two men who had fled were killed. And the banshee is still after both. the group struggled to fight off the banshee's first attack, but research revealed that the banshee also had a connection to the O'Toole brothers, more specifically she maybe have been a nicer fae and become a banshee based on being betrayed by their ancestor.

The group did their best to make the hunting lodge banshee proof and seemed to succeed. Instead, the Banshee attacked Max, who had shown up to take a direct roll in the government operations. The group managed to save her from being bound by Max, then took some time to repeatedly shoot Max while he was down. Rory ran out to keep the banshee from being killed and managed to talk the rest of the group into also agreeing not to kill her, if the banshee promised to not kill anyone but Max. Which she agreed to.

Loose Ends: An examination of Max's body revealed he had transferred his spirit from that body before he died, so he's still at large. One of his assistants also escaped with a significant portion of the Banshee's power.

7. All Out Wererat Attack: San Angelo SOS!

The group was called in to assist PART in a wererat attack on a triad business. They were quickly put on the trail of Stumpy. But during the attempt to arrest him, most of PART were badly wounded or killed by an ambush that also left two group members in the hospital. The group soon learned that the wererats had been conducting some very heavy training and her accepted in some new members with military or terrorist backgrounds. Against all tradition, they had even somehow gotten body armor that would fit a shifter lycanthrope and found weapons to use including LAW rockets. JD got the FBI involved and they took over the investigation. But an attempt to deal with the wererats by the FBI was ambushed again and two swat teams massacred, though the group helped and managed to kill two of the were rats as well.

By this point the group was very suspicious of what was going on and managed to confirm that the FBI were infiltrated by a Millennium agent who was working with the wererats to heighten tensions and try to provoke a war between humans and the supernatural. Though all the wererats knew was that they were trying to take control of the city's supernatural community and were being persecuted because of vampire influence with the government. The group confronted Diego Cruz at a safe location but could not persuade him to back off. But they were contacted by another wererat named Roland Black who hinted to the PC's that if something happened to Cruz, he's next in line to take over and would be much more friendly to them.

While the FBI cracked down no all supernatural activity and groups like HAV tried to raise the tension, the group worked to stop plots that would have made it look like the lycanthropes were attacking humans without provocation. The group managed to foil an attempted sacrifice that would have brought the werewolves in on the side of the wererats and provoked a final battle with Diego Cruz that left the wererat leader and his chief followers dead. Roland Black took over and ended the war, cooperating fully with the local authorities in helping find the wererats who had broken the law.

Loose Ends: Again Millennium, who's involvement in this was mostly just stirring up the trouble behind the scenes. But this is the second time the group has run into supernatural beings using technology they traditionally never touched, and both times it's involved Millennium.
