I'm saving up for a trip.

I filled out a survey and won a trip. I go up on Wednesday.

If you live in either the San Francisco Bay Area or in Long Beach, you can still enter to win a trip, since they're going to draw another winner for June. Here's the survey I took (I'm not plugging the site; just hoping you'll get lucky too). Good luck!

Re: Zeppelins

The Zeppelin took off around 10:25 and rose to an altitude of about 1000 feet. We flew over Stanford University and the Linear Accelerator. The winds were pretty high, which made the flight a bit bumpy. So some of my pictures didn't come out well. Unfortunately, those include the accelerator and the campus tower. But I was able to take other photos of the campus and the area. One of them was taken from the bathroom that has great view.

And of course, pictures of the dirigible itself. After the flight, we had a champagne toast and the staff gave us certificates to commemorate our flight. After that was a trip to the airship museum. Pictures coming up after I've resized them.

Thanks for the pictures. Sounds like it was great fun. Of course, now it's all waiting until you get to fly on an intercontinental dirigible liner.

Stupid technology. What's taking it?

I'd be all for a return of the great Zeppelins myself. Still. Folks are Impatient now a days. Need to be there Yesterday. Maybe if we're lucky, the Casino's will jump on the idea, and give us the Graf Vegas to float around on and play poker in style....

Ah yes, the "Bayside Blimp" (an old Digital Hero article). Despite the alliterative name, it was a rigid-frame airship. And the casino used solid gold chips for the highest denomination (the value in metal was less that the chip's value, but some customers liked them as souvenirs).

I like that idea! It can be a variant of the airship hotel (see the video on page 1). There have been a few concepts involving airships; it's just a matter of finding buyers. I heard on Wednesday a new Zeppelin is ready to be built in Friedrichshafen. All they need is a buyer. Unfortunately, I also heard the Nippon Airship Corporation has gone bankrupt, so the fate of the airship it bought is in the air, so to speak.

So, where are the pictures of you sword-fighting Nazi gorillas on top of the airship?
