She wears her black hair in a bob and goes fairly heavy on the makeup. She prefers wearing sensible pantsuits cut to hide her shoulder holster, but will dress up for formal occasions. BACKGROUND Doll is the top detective working for the Sunshine Hotel Group, which has over 150 luxury hotel locations in seventy countries. Doll was born in Japan, but abandoned shortly thereafter and was adopted from the orphanage by an American couple. They were a happy family until her brother Bob was born. Doll's adoptive father became resentful of her, and favored Bob. This culminated in a house fire where he rejected Doll's help to escape, instead turning to the physically weaker Bob, burdening him so that neither could escape. What happened to the adoptive mother is unknown. Her best friend as a child was Rose Conners, the then sheriff's daughter. After her adoptive father began resenting her, Doll thought of Sheriff Conners as a parental figure. She also knew a troublemaking boy named Gilbert, who became sheriff years later. This also ended in tragedy when Gilbert raped Rose and killed Mr. Conners in an attempt to cover it up. Her detective training was under a man named Charlie Braun. That ended when a man named Tom caused his girlfriend to commit suicide and Charlie retired. Years later, Charlie encountered Tom by chance, murdered his enemy and then forced Doll to kill him in a shootout. Recently, Doll discovered that her birth mother is now a "mama" for a Ginza hostess club. They've met, but chose not to acknowledge the relationship. PERSONALITY Doll is a calm and resourceful woman. While polite and able to empathize with her guests' situations, Doll is also a very private person who does not like talking about her past, and indeed has legally changed her name to just "Doll" . Doll appears to be asexual, or possibly just completely unwilling to enter into sexual or romantic relationships. She drinks sparingly and has not been seen to smoke. Her one point of pride is doing her job well. Her one weakness appears to be a soft spot for young men that resemble her deceased brother, and she will go out of her way to help one. QUOTE "My responsibility is protecting the guests of the Sunshine Hotel." POWERS/TACTICS Doll has no superhuman powers, but is a skilled detective, marksman and martial artist and can sense when she's being watched. Her preferred firearm is the Smith &^ Wesson .22 Magnum revolver, model 53. She uses a variety of ammo loads, including armor-piercing rounds and hollowpoint. She keeps a backup knife in her hair, but dislikes using it. CAMPAIGN USE Doll is the main character of "Doll: the Hotel Detective", created by Takao Saito (who also did Golgo 13) starting in 1980.She's a fairly specialized character--if the story takes place in or involves her hotel chain, she'll be active, otherwise not. She'd make a good contact for player characters, both detective types and wealthy jet-setters. If she needs to be more powerful, up her combat-related characteristics some. You shouldn't need to make her weaker. She will not Hunt characters further than the hotel grounds, but call in the police instead. Note that by the present day, her Social Limitation is pretty much no longer an issue except in certain patriarchal cultures, Contrariwise, if the game is set prior to 1980, the limitation will be worth much more. tkdguy
Re: Doll the Hotel Detective Not bad. She could be a regular in the Creepy Hotel thread. Maybe her INT could be a little higher.
