Also when that .30 voter base dilutes itself by spite voting for candidates who cannot be elected.

 

I have to say of late that is a conservative problem more than a liberal problem.  In theory, Libertarians are gonna rob the GOP of 5-10%**, does the Green come near that (I don't know about Stein this past year, but the Greens hadn't previously been even a blip since about Nader next to last run.)

 

 

Note: getting a little too close to needing to be taken up in the political thread, so I'll avoid taking this further.

 

**if I am a putting together the GOP/Libertarian vote together, may or may not apply to votes as a whole
