drunkonduty
We haven't had a WWYCD in a while. Here's one that's been buzzing around in the back of my mind for a long time now. Bulldozer, that minor brick with the major inferiority complex, who has spent his entire career being a low level villain and a high level pain in the arse for every female character he encounters, approaches you at your base/a public appearance. You don't recognise him at first because he's wearing a shirt. A nice Lacoste polo neck and a pair of knee length chinos to boot. He quickly explains he's not come here to cause trouble; he's come to apologise. He tells you that during his last prison term, with the help of a counsellor, he finally started to come to terms with himself. He apologises for every loud mouthed remark, for every sexist comment he's ever made. To any female character to whom he has been a sleaze he is especially apologetic, downright remorseful. He describes his past behaviour as "unconscionable." He goes on to say that the whole reason he was such douche was that he was desperately trying to hide his sexuality, mostly from himself. All that posturing, all that machismo stuff was just him being deep in denial. He hopes that the Heroes can someday see it in their hearts forgive him. If asked why he is apologising he explains that his counsellor has recommended it as an important step in coming to terms with himself. Mental scans, etc. show him to be sincere. What Would Your Character Do?
massey
Pat him on the shoulder. "That's okay, Ogre. I forgive you."
drunkonduty
Awww. That's nice. And really patronising too.
TheQuestionMan
I am happy for you. You have my best wishes for the future. What do you plan to do now?
The Weapon
My character would say "Great, glad to hear that you're more at peace with yourself. However whatever your reason, you were a complete dick. Next time you have a problem accepting yourself try not to deal with it by committing felonies." That may seem immature, but he's 12. phydaux
Quazar "Congratulation on your fresh self awareness. I wish you well in your new life." Mystica "Your words from before, they were of no consequence. They cause no lasting harm." Shadowhunter "Go be gay somewhere else."
Cygnia
All my characters: watch him carefully. Just because he's gay doesn't mean he still can't be misogynistic. Or a criminal. However, if he's genuinely making amends and trying to reform/ stay on the law-abiding path, encourage that.
drunkonduty
All this acceptance; I think it's all Bulldozer ever wanted. Cygnia, you make a very good point. My own characters would have similar attitudes.
Tigereye
Merlin would still want him imprisoned for a long, long time. He's done a lot of damage out of the ring in our universe (hiring himself out to bust union organizers and breaking kneecaps of loan-shark dodgers are just two of his more minor crimes). He might make a mildly homophobic joke about him finally coming to terms... with his Stronghold cellmate. La Angela would still find him skeevy. These, and one more thing--keep a lookout for any other "heel-face turns" superhuman or otherwise. If there are others there could be a pattern--and if there is, there could be outside forces at work. The only people that could actually have a problem with Bulldozer's change of heart would be AIM--the Alliance of Indomitable Men. Not necessarily because they're creeped out by his new revelation but because as their former leader he knows all their secrets--the bank accounts where they stashed their loot, locations of the Mencaves, secret identities and other vital information. They may attempt to contact him, if for no other reason than to elicit his promise that he wouldn't squeal on them--but such things have a way of getting out of hand. . . Zephrosyne
My character Ilario would say, "Hey cue ball, you're gross; go back to the other team. I don't want you playing on mine!"
drunkonduty
-the Alliance of Indomitable Men. Wow, I've never thought of Bulldozer as having leadership qualities. Not even for some group like this. I may have to seal this for my campaign. Awesome. :-)
