pinecone
Well, it looks like I may be able to try Champions out again. I plan on building a magician/shape shifter. But I am unfamiliar with how 6th works. So do either of these look like playable concepts? 1) Silent, a "super mage" speaks Atlantean, uses the "Unspeakable spell of Harrik" Is famous in occult circles as the only know master of this hyper diffacult spell suite. Spells: Shapesift: high end, Multi-form: "Were-beast" (adding a were-beast template to normal beastys, plus "magical" beasts as well. I plan to use the beastiary for the builds. Transform, "Beast speech" (Telepathy/Mind Control) Possible "issues" Supermages tend towards having a answer for every problem, extra because of "Astral Form". 2) Werebeast/ The Shape, a magical shape shifter, full boat Shapeshift, plus a Multi power of "Function follows form" HKA,Flight(wings) etc... Downside, having to build creatures on the fly, having to purchase large blocks of abilitys "naked", making for possibly "OP" beasties. Example, ST 30, turn into a rabbit, still ST 30. etc... Would either of these be "easy" to build in 6th? And would they produce too many headaches for a GM? Thanx...
Scott Baker
For #2, you might look at Multiform - each form is built individually, so you get the, "function follows form." As for your question about being a headache for the GM, you'll need to talk to the GM. I recommend talking to the GM about what type of campaign they are running before you worry about the character at all. They should be able to guide you as to what would be appropriate for their game world if there are any restrictions in place.
pinecone
Yeah, did that, he said it runs Magic vs Tech, and a magical Shapeshifter was a good fit. But that might be because he has no idea how much havoc a super mage, or Shapeshifter can do to a story arc. Examples, "how to infiltrate?" answer Shapeshifter. Scout? Astral form, and or Shapeshifter. The last time I ran a Shapeshifter, I applied for, and was accepted for employment by the bad guys. How did we remove the Big Boss? Ambushed him when he showed for a date( with his hot new employee)....fortunately it did not derail the story. But it sure could have. The problem I have with Multiform, is it is limited to presets, that's good, but if I want to stake out a meeting, disguised as a parakeet, I might not have that written down, and it needs to be a specific Parakeet. Not a generic one. So my preferred solution is : Shapeshift+ Shrinking+ Flight: Wings.... In the same game above, I sat in on a meeting between the (NPC) Bat clone, and other lone wolf heroes as a pigeon in the park.
Hugh Neilson
Actually, I built a Multiform for animals, and the little weak animals had more than enough points to have "Shapeshift - any small bird" and a small multipower of possible abilities to simulate a variety of small animals ("Slot locked to form -0"). pinecone
Cool, I'll give that a gander, I already need to set aside build points for critters, because as "were-beasts" they have several defenses (not vs Silver) that need to be stated out. The plus side is if I get detected, I might not be one shotted. Back in the "old days" I built a high end Shapeshifter (Power copier) as VPP: Multiform: Me, with your powers and abilitys. I though it was borderline. But maybe with a little self control, I can use it responsibly. So I can Multiform: Small beasty: + Shapeshift, costs to change, toss in DR x1/2 PDr not vs Silver, maybe some Combat luck, and call it good! Then just add Small Birdy, small Fishy etc... pinecone
Nice! I'll try scribbling this down for a while...it looks like it covers all the options. I was pondering taking "Astral form" as a slot of Multiform.
pinecone
Ok starting to rough things in...Multiform (400) 80, x16 extra forms, 20, Instant, 5 Were Template: DR x1/2 PDr not vs Silver -1/2, Armor 6/6 not vs Silver/Fire -1/2, Regen 1 per min 14? I plan on putting the "were" template on every form, including the base form...then adding in Shapeshift, immitate, cellular, any base form and putting that on every form as well. then fill out some infiltration skilz, and some more supernatural immunitys like Disease/Poison, Temp/Pressure and the like. I don't plan on boosting stats too much, that will be a job for Multiform. For big animals I am thinking Tiger, Wolf, Rhino, Shark, then small furry critter, small feathered critter, snake.....I'm kind of temped to split out snake into constrictor, and venomous....I guess I also need a small fish form as well.... I may need to add in size templates as well (Giant constrictor! ) (Giant Gorilla) Kinda drawing a blank on a name though...right now all I have is Beastial, and I don't think that sounds right...if I call myself "Werebeast" I kinda advertise the whole "Silver kills me" thing. Cancer
Take one form as a potted plant, with all the limitations that would have, and pour the resulting points into languages, knowledge skills, eidetic memory, perception, and so on. Only useful as a spy of a particular sort, but possibly very effective.
pinecone
Interesting, I've added Gorilla: Growth 50 pts, and Astral form...I think I'll need a "Atlantean Warbeast" as well. The group is small, and a little light on combat. So it looks like I need to function as a heavy hitter instead of skill maven/ Investigator as I had planned. Oh, and I've established taking the form of Elemental(s) so far H2O...
pinecone
Well, it seems that earth is a semi occupied "protectorate" of Malva, and the Hzeel are maneuvering to invade. So it looks like my Atlantean Wizard needs to look at becoming a top end "freedom fighter" a Shapeshifter/Wizard should make for a terrifying insurgent. the "Guerilla fighter" jokes alone justify everything. (My main combat form so far has been a 24 foot tall gorilla) (a Guardian Ape, with the "were" template, and 50 points of Growth) I think I'm going to try re-working the character to be more of a "fusion" of the two concepts. Still a high end Shapeshifter, but more emphasis on the "wizard" side. As far as I'm concerned the Malvan Empire is no different than Tyranon. Neither is welcome on Earth. pinecone
I am slowly building out the Multiform...I'll start posting when I get a few extra mins...I am also trying to rework the base form to have "more Wizard, less Shapeshifter" This morning I started scribbling down the Astral Form. Does anyone have a CC/6th compatable template I can "borrow" from?
