My Explosion Is Soooo Big...

...How big is it, you ask? Good question.

 

When buying AOE Explosion, you need to buy enough Area for the attack to get down to 0 at the edge, right. RAW state this as "at least 2m + (2m x DCs). So for a 12d6 Blast Explosion, you'd need to buy a 26m Radius or Cone or whatever. But here's the actual damage that attack does at range

 

<2m  = 12d6

>2m  = 11d6

>4m  = 10d6

>6m  =  9d6

>8m  =  8d6

>10m = 7d6

>12m = 6d6

>14m = 5d6

>16m = 4d6

>18m = 3d6

>20m = 2d6

>22m = 1d6

>24m = 0d6

 

...So why do I need to buy 26m when it zeroes out at 24m? It seems like the required area should just be (2m x DCs), which also happens to be slightly simpler to explain/remember/calculate, so what's the extra +2m for? Yeah, I know quibbling over 2m is pretty damn trivial and it really only matters at the breakpoints. But I'd never noticed the discrepancy before and now I'm wondering if I'm missing something really obvious?
