Greywind beat me to it.

 

It is actually a decent read.  The author's writing style gets better with each new book (20 so far).  I also think the overall story is better by dropping/altering certain plot lines. 

 

I think best part is that his story framework allows for actual Superheroes instead of "people with powers" or "blood/splatter/kill but I am really the hero" story's.  Also his dark conspiracies are not the "Entire Government is EVIL!!!!"  garbage that is so boring it makes you want to shoot yourself to escape it. 

 

There are some aspects of the books that are irritating, but luckily they are books.  You can skim past the junk to get back to the story. 

 

For me, I'm not interested in porting over the plot-lines or even most of the characters, his take on Mutants doesn't fit my worldview.  But the actual organization set up for H.E.R.O. and equipment fits nicely.
