The Man in the High Castle: The Series

1962 is the time of THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE.

It was fun.  I am a fan of the novel, but it has been at least 15 years since I last read it.

I do not think it is following the books story at all, but like I said, it has been awhile.

I always believed that the actual filming of the story would be impossible due to the novel-within-the-novel called THE GRASSHOOPER LIES HEAVY.  I never thought about making it a newsreel film.  Want to see how much this new fact changes the story.

I hope the show makes the cut and they make more episodes..

The book had an interesting premise, but was undercut by it's ending.

Another book with a similar plot is William Overgard's 1980 novel "The Divide".   Isolationist Senator Burton K. Wheeler is elected President in a world where the Nazi developed Tiger Tanks and Jet Fighters earlier then then did in our reality, and shared the technology with Japan.  Germany conquered England and Russia, and both Axis powers invaded and conquered America in 1946.  The book takes place in 1976 where Hitler and Tojo are going to meet in the center of divided America for the anniversary of their victory, and the American resistance makes plans to spoil their party using the atomic bomb.

I'm drooling right now. Not so much that I can't type but it is drawing attention from everyone here at the library. Or maybe it was my girlish giggles of delight that made everyone notice me. Anyway...

With all the remakes, reboots, and rehashes being done on television and in the movies, it's nice to see a novel that has yet to be translated to the screen finally making an appearance. And best of all, it's a Philip K. Dick novel. I can never get enough Philip K. Dick. (Yeah, I know that sounds dirty.) :P

Now if they'd only make a movie based on Ubik.
