Dead guy on the tab
Hello everyone, I was reading reviews of early Avengers comics and it got me to thinking if the Avengers were actually a campaign what were the players like. For example, the ant-man's player is not satisfied with his builds so he keeps undergoing "radiation accidents" and purchased Wasp as a follower until she is spun off as a PC. Iron Man has a VPP or Multipower he keeps tinkering with. Hulk is a player who either wants to play the loner or got bored and left. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are the characters of a dating couple who break-up when the Scarlet Witch's player starts dating the Vision's player. Anyone else have player background ideas from the Avengers.
Hyper-Man
Black Knight is the D&D player who never read comic books.
CaptnStrawberry
Wonder Man was a villain/NPC introduced by the GM, but now he hands the character out as an 'extra' PC anytime a guest player wants to join the group.
Steve
Hawkeye could probably be something like that as well.
CaptnStrawberry
Dunno, he was originally infatuated with Black Widow, the real baddie.
Steve
The Avengers have had a number of reformed bad guys become members, now that I think about it.
CaptnStrawberry
I suppose the Thor player would be the power gamer/cheater in the group? Characteristics through the roof (except boring ones like INT), a gi-normous VPP associated with Mjolnr, and he even designs his build so no-one else can use it, or even pick it up! "Lemme see that character sheet so I can double check the math, buddy. I set the campaign level high, but not that high."

Lord Liaden
Hawkeye is the Pro from Dover, the guy who has to be the best in his field in the world. He always wants to be the center of attention, and keeps leaving the group in a huff when he feels he's not getting enough screen time. But he always comes back. Dead guy on the tab
Hey! this is MY hammer. It even has my name on it! He bought everything as only in Hero ID with a IAF Personal (Nonuniversal) vs. Hulk's multiform. Besides Pym was the one who bought his EGO way down! Steve
And Captain America is the player who really wanted to play a Golden Age campaign but got outvoted to do a Silver Age one instead. So he kept all his backstory and said the character has been frozen in ice since the end of WW2.
Christopher R Taylor
The Wasp is the girlfriend of the guy who plays Pym, she doesn't really like to play and misses the sessions a lot so Pym double plays her and makes her a fashionista. The Vision is a very old time Champions player who knows the system inside and out and worked out this three page backstory to work with the GM when he joined the group, with a complicated storyline involving a villain. His character is crazy powerful and flexible in ways the other players never considered using the rules.
Dead guy on the tab
The Avengers have had a number of reformed bad guys become members, now that I think about it. That's because all the players are noobs that the GM had to give old villains to play.

Could be although in the early Avengers she seemed more like plot device and skill roll girl to me.
Greywind
Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver all joined the Avengers at the same time under Captain America after Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man/Giant Man and Wasp quit. Wanda was involved with Hawkeye before Vision was around.
csyphrett
The guy playing the hulk went to playing Captain America. That's how Rick Jones went from being a sidekick for one to a sidekick for the other CES
Christopher R Taylor
Could be although in the early Avengers she seemed more like plot device and skill roll girl to me. Well a lot of "I'll play two guys!" characters end up that way
zslane
I think it is better to dispense with Thor's alter ego Donald Blake, skip all the OIHID nonsense and just build him as a brick with a physical blast attack in his MP/VPP/whatever. Marvel saw the light on this quite a long time ago.
Christopher R Taylor
I'm going to be borrowing/swiping a lot of these ideas and thoughts if I ever get my Champions 101 project going. Great way of helping GMs relate to character designs and player types.

massey
Cap is played by the GM's friend who played years ago in an old campaign. He showed up and brought his old character along with him.
Hyper-Man
Squirrel Girl is the player the GM just felt sorry for and used to teach a lesson to the power gamers at the table.
