He went from a small and unhealthy kid into a robust man who became a hero in a war of his own design and then leveraged that into a Vice Presidency where the President was assassinated leading to Roosevelt taking over. After that he used gunboat diplomacy to support Panama leaving Columbia so that he could build a canal through the new nation and it would be considered American soil.
