Michael Hopcroft
My hardcopy of FHC was waiting for me when I got home from Gamestorm, where I also would have the opportunity to buy one. And of course the first thing I saw about the book was the cover. Everybody on it looks so happy. I can see why the humans would be so cheerful -- they're surrounded by a dragon's hoard without a scratch on them, looking like they're having the time of their lives. But why does the dragon look so happy? A strange woman is standing on his upper chest. Strangers are rummaging through his stuff looking to pick out the best bits. The insignificant, soft, and reportedly tasty humans are literally walking all over him. And he's happy about it. What's really happening? Ndreare
Lets never bring this up again... They received a lotta feedback on this during the kick starter. Some of it was good some of it was bad but I think they were trying to give the impression of the dragon was trying to negotiate for survival. Ninja-Bear
Somebeings like strange women to stand on their chest. Oh....what Ndreare said.
Michael Hopcroft
I wonder if there are more whimsical/humorous possible answers (like the dragon's weakness being knock-knock jokes).
Scott Baker
I wonder if there are more whimsical/humorous possible answers (like the dragon's weakness being knock-knock jokes). I posited in the other thread that the dragon is actually a child and just spotted Momma.
CaptnStrawberry
He gets a big tax rebate/insurance settlement when adventurers steal his treasure? Take my hoard. . . please!
Christopher R Taylor
Its a non-traditional version of fantasy, something different than the usual fare.
bluesguy
The humans are his hirelings and she is giving him a neck massage with her booted foot. It is hard to give a good massage to a dragon through all those thick scales. He has told his hirelings "After that last mission I decided you pick out one of the larger babbles from this small treasure room.".... I can say my wife and daughter loved the cover art. Ndreare
Okay Blue, you win the prize, that was the funniest response I have heard.
Lucius
I don't think the dragon is supposed to look happy. I think it's meant to look ingratiating, in a "Look guys, we can come to some accommodation that leaves me in one piece, can't we?" sort of way. Lucius Alexander You know, the trying-to-look-friendly-so-I-don't-get-fed-to-a-palindromedary sort of smile...
Blue
I imagine the artist said, "Say cheese" before he started drawing them. Perfectly logical!
Vondy
Maybe the dragon likes strange women.

Hugh Neilson
He's (she's? how does one tell a Dragon's gender?) probably happy to find modelling work. Dragons are so infrequently employed that most people think they don't even EXIST any more, or even that they never did. What?
Mick Price
He's happy because he finally found a group of adventurers to kill his dad and share the treasure. And the one with lumps on the upper torso knows exactly how hard to scratch his chest (although she can't stratch had enough with her hands and has to use her boot. Christopher R Taylor
The only problem with the image that I have is that the dwarf is still wearing his pack, which makes it look like they busted in the room and found the woman and the dragon already there. mhd
Not that there is anything wrong with that. But at least this picture shows that Dragon Rickles still can get laughs with his "I just get no respect from these adventurers." shtick. Even from 18-finger-sword Michelle Fairley. Actually he's already loaded his pack with loot while the other 2 are still looking around. Leave it to the Dwarf to make sure he gets his share when the other shoe drops and they have to high-tail it out of there!
assault
Party Thief, dude. As in the member of the party who is a Thief. The fact that he has Dwarvish drinking habits is just a result of him being a Dwarf.
assault
What I want to know is: what was written on the scroll, that made everyone start laughing? Either it was a cursed scroll, or the wizard himself wasn't immune to the spell he read, or it was The Funniest Joke in the World. Or, since Lord Dunsany is always relevant: The Three Infernal Jokes.
