Nothere
You find yourself standing in a strange landscape where it's hard to see and everything seems to move and flow. You reaize you are not alone. and call out. "I know your there show yourself" A mysterious figure appears and says. "Of course I'm here. I am always here." "Who are you?" you ask. "That doesn't matter. What's important is you are planning a crime. For which you plan to recruit some help. But you will not choose who. That will be determined here and now." "And why should I?" "Because if you.don't. You will stand there for one million years. Your team will consist of the following. A plotter. Weak in powers but compensated by equipment. A powerhouse. Strong and tough. A scientist. There powers may or may not be formed from their genius. An energy user. The spark to the powerhouse's muscle. And a noose. One who through personality or power will hinder more than help." "Why would I want that last one?" "One million years." "So who are these people your going to stick me with?" "I do not know. The script is yours. The nature of the players mine. But the who we leave to fate" He waves his hand and five people appear, but who? (Your free to choose anyone from any champions product.) assault
Not heroes, villains. "What's important is you are planning a crime. For which you plan to recruit some help." So while Defender etc are interesting choices, there has to be some reason to use heroes.

Comic
From the original post: "(Your free to choose anyone from any champions product.)" Champions is the Infinite Game. If restricted only to characters under Champions' trademark I'd use the villain option for 'Dark' Aura from Ultimate Energy Projector as my scientist pick first to splice mix-and-match style from the whole universe to get: Dr. McQuarkstroyer Grondripper Dark Aura Shrinkerette Howling White Flame Pantheracula

Lord Liaden
I figure I'd better leave out the cosmic types like Galaxars or the Infinite Man, who would likely just tell your mysterious figure to stuff it. Your team will consist of the following. A plotter. Weak in powers but compensated by equipment. I would choose Utility. Tactics and advance planning are his specialty, and what he's usually hired for. A powerhouse. Strong and tough. Gargantua. Top-tier brick, but smarter and more versatile than most bricks, and a proven reliable hireling. A scientist. Their powers may or may not be formed from their genius. Brainchild. He mainly sells his scientific expertise, but will commit crimes if necessary, and his mental powers could be handy. An energy user. The spark to the powerhouse's muscle. "Spark" put Megavolt over the top for me. Pretty powerful, and quite versatile. And a noose. One who through personality or power will hinder more than help. ChaosDrgn is right. That can only be Foxbat. The above are not necessarily the most powerful/ brilliant/ skilled etc. villains in their categories, but except for Foxbat they can all be expected to work reasonably well together. One who through personality or power will hinder more than help." Plotter Foxbat is obvious, here. He's got equipment, and he's good at making up plots! But I'm going outside the box here: Lash is a plotter: a master planner on the battlefield of love! Powerhouse There can be only one! Bulldozer! BULLDOZER! Scientist My first thought was El Sauriano, but he's only your go-to guy for crimes involving dinosaurs, and (allegedly) there are other kinds of crimes in the world. It's not a world I want to live in, mind you, but there you go. That leaves ...Exo! Energy User That sounds dangerously practical, but, we ask, and the universe provides. Orion is the thief of . . . power rings. A Noose Or, as the team would put it, a wet blanket. Someone who just doesn't get the genius of a plan to, say, kidnap the Empire State Building and hold it for ransom. No, wait. That's been done. Anyway, the noose. The nerd. The uncool, stick-in-the-mud one, always making sarcastic comments: Mechassassin!
Lucius
For a moment there, I thought there was another Superdraft starting Lucius Alexander The palindromedary suggests I swipe the idea and volunteer to run a Superdraft with it
