With tongue planted firmly in cheek, I present Doctor Quantum:

Theorizing that one could time travel within his own family lineage, Dr. Beck Samuels stepped into the Quantum Slide accelerator... and vanished.  He woke to find himself trapped in the body of his great-great-great-great-grandfather, a Revolutionary War contemporary of Ben Franklin, facing a mirror image that's not his own and driven by an unknown force to change history for the better.  His only guide on this journey is Cal, an observer from his own time, who appears in the form of a hologram that only Beck can see and hear. And so Dr. Samuels finds himself using his scientific knowledge to invent devices to put right what will one day go wrong, and hoping someday to return to a brighter future.

Captain Constitution

Byron Wells is the latest man to assume the mantle of Captain Constitution. For years the US military has been working on super soldier programs. From a financial and mental stability standpoint the Captain Constitution program is probably the most successful. Instead of taking a young recruit, breaking them and moulding them into the perfect soldier, the project takes existing soldiers, ensures that they are psychologically sound and then equips them. The equipment can differ from Captain to Captain but it is usually an armoured suit with rocket boots and strength enhanced gauntlets. Weapons of an exotic nature were abandoned after observations on other projects showed that villains stole these with some ease.

Byron joined the army and qualified as a US Ranger. He saw action across the globe before being invited to join the project. After satisfying the mental health requirements he donned the suit for the first time. He tours the States inspecting army, navy, marine, Coast Guard and airforce bases but will happily divert to aid the police, federal authorities or other law enforcement in battling villains. In this capacity he is usually providing back up rather than leading the charge. But woe betide the villains who underestimate him.

As the image has been up for a week and no one else has bothered to post, I'm giving it to death tribble, who did submit a really good entry, and likely would have won against anyone else.  I'm just disappointed that my image generated so little interest.

Maybe next time.  Until then, you have the honor, dt.

I had an idea but it didn't really gel (A young man breaks into the home of a Golden Super soldier gets trashed by the now elderly but supernaturally spry and experienced fighter who unfortunately over taxes his failing powers. The kid doesn't just leave him to die or continue the burglary showing a good heart so the hero takes him under his wing eventually passing on the mantle as he never has children) and my others were just variations on DT's (which is very good, I agree).

For me the issues was the number of Stars not making sense. Pretty sure the US Flag had more then 8 Stars, so I would have to develop some story around why those are only 8 Stars.? For wich my knowledge of US history is way to limited to even find a plausible reasoning.

I took it that the full flag was there and we were just looking at a fraction of it

Alright what do people make of this

AntiPope72II.jpg

I got a Antipope/Antichrist angle, a Magician/Priest angle, a Chinese Emperor/monarchy angle. I let others go first before I decide on anything specific.

Advocatus Diaboli

The forces of evil are real--DEMON, The Crowns Of Krim, Takofanes--and they must be opposed, they must be destroyed. The  task of training the Church's warriors to fight great and powerful evil falls to Bishop Salvatore D'Angelo, who has been given special dispensation by the Pope to study and use dark sorcery to give warriors-in-training experience in what they will face in actual combat against demons and satanic sorcerors, and how to counter such powers.  There are those within and without the Church who are concerned than anyone who studies the dark arts so intently may fall to temptation and become a servant of evil himself--but Bishop D'Angelo has performed his duties faithfully, and has, on those few occasions when he has entered the battle himself, proven a formidable and devastating opponent against the powers of darkness.  He has the complete trust of the Church and its allies.

For now.

The Anti-Pope

The pressed dubbed him the Anti-pope even before he took up the somewhat outrageous costume and tinged his performances with dark occult, Satanic touches, but William Green is a performance artist and public speaker. No one is quite sure where he come from before his first performance in Atlantic City to a half full comedy club but his mixture of sardonic observational humor, subversive anti-authoritarian rhetoric and raunchy stand up was soon drawing sold out crowds in venues order of magnitude larger. He has little online presence as of yet, stating a preference for live performance were he can "feel the sin" washing off the audience. All in all, for all his rising fame, William appears to be edgy comedian, funny for some but nothing truly noteworthy in this day and age.

Appearances can be deceiving. No one has noticed the unusual uptick in crimes of passion and impulse after his performances or the slight but definite rise in acts of civil disobedience, hate crimes and general aggressive, impulsive tendencies. Some of his fans have grown obsessive following him around the country in servile bands that live on his word and engage in his hedonistic, anarchist philosophy to the full: rejecting even destroying convention and tradition as they can without drawing too much attention.

Yet.

William Green isn't a mere comedian. He's not even human, not anymore. His mortal existence was ended months ago when he made a deal with an Infernal creature for fame. Or more precisely, he made a deal for face to be widely known as a famous comedian. And he will be. The entity using his body for its ends didn't change is name or features in any way, in fact has gone out of its way to make the world know his name. The Devil is in the Details.

And now its in William *ba dum tish*

The creature inhabiting his mortal husk is known to occultists as Balseraph, a power order of devil or fallen angel. Once one of the most high, Princes of Heaven one step from the Seat of the Divine when  a Seraph falls from grace it taxes their sanity to the breaking point. Once the paragons of Truth and Righteousness, they are confronted with a world of lies, deception and evil. To adjust to their new existence, they master something once alien to them: Deceit. Not just of others but themselves, convincing themselves that they made the right choice or are even still serving the Eternal Plan. In short they are the greatest liars in the Universe. Their lies, infused with  tainted remnants of Divine Power, can alter reality itself though only in shallow usually temporary ways or twist hearts, minds and souls in deeper, more insidious and, if allowed, permanent fashion.

As William Green the Anti-pope, he can approach masses of willing mind, make them laugh and relax while his word slowly creep into the cracks in their souls and, like freezing stagnant water, wedge them wider. His disparaging restraint, empathy, casting doubt on the hierarchies and structures of society said in apparent jest are easily ingested and from their subtle poison spreads. Not only does that slowly corrupt his targets and make them more likely to damn themselves but opens their souls to demonic control, softening their natural resistance their will would offer to possession.

The scheme is so quiet and subtle, practically a long game that it not be noticed. His power don't even read to most mentalists as they aren't psionic but mystical, semi Divine if corrupted in nature. But the seething evil in Green is growing both impatient and haughty, intoxicated with his own fame and influence. He's started to direct his lackeys into greater, more overt actions both for profit and simple malicious fun. The vigilante Hype unknowingly support him, seeing the Anti-pope as a fellow traveler, an iconoclastic anarchist while the Balseraph quietly pushes him towards greater more impulsive extremes and erodes his moral center. A few simple words from Anti-pope help reinforce Hype's feeling of fellowship and shared goodwill when it wavers. Exactly what the Balseraph's endgame is no one knows (perhaps not even it) but it will be worthy of a fallen Celestial Prince.

The Warrior

Since the end of the Second World War the British government has worked discretely on a supersoldier project. The continuing success they have had is with the agent side of things resulting in a hero/vigilante called The Warrior. Selected from military personnel each man that has become The Warrior has also been trained in police work after the successful 1960s version worked with a group with superpowers. The current training process is akin to commando training and also involves the parachute regiment and the Special Air Service. The Warrior is also trained in martial arts and uses a quarterstaff as a weapon. They also use a handgun but otherwise a variety of equipment is available making them akin to a lesser form of The Batman. Police powers are through New Scotland Yard as are any enquiries that need to be made into groups, organisations or individuals.

There has been a tacit agreement that each country's supersoldiers are not sent into other's countries on missions. The KGB and CIA were quite particular on this and everyone else more or less fell into line although 'rescue' missions were condoned. Although each Warrior is different they are all loyal to The Crown and are decidedly apolitical mush to the annoyance of political parties usually the one in power. Several Warriors have been killed on active service around the world against mundane foes like The IRA and superpowered threats like Dr Destroyer but a new one seems to appear with hardly any delay much to the chagrin of the Underworld. The reason for this is simple. There are usually 2 Warriors ready at the same time one on active service and one on reserve while at least a third will be completing training with the police.

As yet there have been no women in the programme partly due lack of frontline experience for women soldiers and those with major powers like super strength or flight go into the Captain Britain or Britannia programmes.
