     The Appellaxians were the first threat that the Justice League of America.  They were a group of Aliens, each of which sought to rule their home world.  To decide who would, they were sent to Earth to combat each other using armies of transformed humans.  They arrived on Earth by landing in Kryptonite Meteors.  Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman each defeated Stone God, Golden Rock, Fire-Lord, Glass-Man, and Mercury Monster respectively.  When they attempted to capture Wood King he managed to paralyze them, and transform them into wood.  Working together they managed to free themselves.  Batman and Superman took on Crystal Creature, whose Green Kryptonite meteor weakened Superman while Batman was partially transformed into Crystal.  Batman managed to remove the Kryptonite and Superman defeated the Crystal Creature.  Based on the team work needed to defeat this threat the heroes decided to form the Justice League.

 

     Years later the Seven original members where mind controlled into gathering the Meteors, causing a battle between them and newer members of the Justice League.  When they gathered the Meteors clones of the original aliens formed and overpowered the team.  The newer members of the Justice League tracked the original members down and the combined force defeated the alien menace for a second time.

They did that in the Champions comics as well, which might explain why it was cancelled.  

 

By Champions I mean the Hero System based one and not the Marvel group of the same name.

All Justice League members on this thread have some form of Megascale movement.  The League serves as an International Police Force with it's members "Deputized" by Superman who was given police powers by the United Nations.
