RPMiller
Has anyone attempted to run a Cthulhu Hero game? Any resources already available? Just curious.
Lord Liaden
CALL OF CTHULHU/ DELTA GREEN (all for HERO 5E)Character and creature conversion notes (under heading "Silent Mobius Zeta"):http://surbrook.devermore.net/worldbooks/smz/smzcoc.htmlGuidelines for writing up magic spells from the Lovecraft Mythos:https://web.archive.org/web/20090805034315/http://geocities.com/TimesSquare/Castle/9529/Gaming_stuff/Grimoire/magic_systems.htmHERO writeups for numerous Mythos creatures:http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationscreatures/games/games.html#COCHERO writeups for characters from Delta Green:http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationsrpg/rpg.html#COC There's also an interesting-sounding licensed book in the Hero website store combining the Lovecraft Mythos with superheroes, although it doesn't specify (and I can't recall) whether it's for 5E or 6E: http://www.herogames.com/forums/store/product/135-adventures-into-darkness-hero-system-pdf/
RPMiller
I told my son that you would likely have the answer, and a comprehensive one at that. Thanks, LL!
Susano
Also, look up Shadows Angelus (on my site) for more in that line of thinking.
ArmlessTigerMan
Just to add that, the character writeups provided in http://www.herogames.com/forums/store/product/135-adventures-into-darkness-hero-system-pdf/ are written in 5th edition. I enjoyed it, but I'm a big fan of the Golden Age as well as just about anything by Ken Hite. Your mileage may vary. Assuming that by Cthulhu Hero you mean Cthulhu + Supers, you should try to track down a copy of an old article from Pyramid: Lovecraftian Supers Using the Mythos to Power Your Metahumans by Joshua Marquart & Chad Underkoffler
Lord Liaden
No discussion of Lovecraft plus Supers would be complete without citing Allen Varney's brilliant ANOPHELES: Atrocities From Beyond. BTW ArmlessTigerMan, good to see you on the forums again!
ArmlessTigerMan
Hey LL, how's tricks? I guess the title of this thread was enough to bring me out of lurk mode. Horror Hero had a section on Shock and Stress, and how these could lead to characters picking up additional psychological limitations. Basically their version of the Sanity Loss mechanic from Call of Cthulhu. You could easily roll your own system, so I wouldn't call this a necessity, but it is an interesting view into Hero Games circa the early 90's. Gurps Horror is a better treatment of the subject of Horror in general in role playing, and you can get it in pdf, but i don't recall if it had anything specific to CoC style gaming.
