Paper Minis using Licenced Characters

Recommended Posts

Probably not the right place to put this, and if the mods wan to to move this then that's fine by me, but having purchased and assembled paper miniatures created by SquirmyDad (OneMonkMiniatures) it dawned on me:

What would it take for Hero Games to produce Paper Miniatures of Iconic Champions characters?

Metal and Plastic Models are expensive and take time and skill to paint, where paper minis are cheap (aside from what shouldn't be more than a $3 PDF and ink and cardstock), and only require a hobby knife, some white glue and a black sharpy to cover up the edges where the paper has been cut.

From a production point of view, really all that would be required is paying an artist (unless I'm not seeing something).

Sets I personally would like to see would include:

  • Mechanon (as well as his famous summoned robots)
  • Dr. Destroyer (as well as his minions)
  • GRAB
  • The Crowns of Krym
  • A VIPER set with a couple of variations of troopers, mecha-suits, and maybe a tank.
  • UNTIL and PRIMUS (possible use the same PDF as the VIPER one with separate Layers.

So my questions are:

What would it take to get purchasable PDFs of paper models for Licensed Champions Characters? I myself would be willing contribute to a Kickstarter aimed at doing this.

Who here on the boards would be interested in this?

For myself, I create my own paper minis. Using my paint program, I get the character picture & shrink it to about 220 pixels height making sure I have enough room for the fold flap. I copy the image, do a 90' turn and put that underneath the previous image. Cut out. Fold in middle, then fold the bottom flaps and tape bottom. I put multiple minis on same page and save. If mini gets destroyed, just print out the mini again - no fuss. Works well enough: the players like them on the battlemap episodes.
