Using Transform to Change someone's Karma ?

Annnnndd... this is a new Opalistic question, so hands on buzzers guys ^^

Providing I want to create a character that is an hindu God incarnation, and make him able to change someone's Karma, I have several options :

- moving his mind in another body(human/animal/plants/mineral...)

- changing his "karma" count so to speak

how would you do that with  ? With a transform Power ?

I was never very comfy with the How to class transformations in minor/major/severe...

So if any of you has hints ?

What do you want it to do?

As I understand karma in the Hindu religion (which is probably not very well), it determines how you come back after you die.  So if I have good karma, I come back as something good.  If I have bad karma, I am reincarnated as a fish or something.  That sort of thing is probably beyond the boundaries of a traditional game.  Unless your game involves reincarnation and dealing with life after death, I don't know that it will ever be used.

hmm Say I want the character to be able to push someone up or down on his karma path ?

So reincarnate him/her immediately into someone/something else, even if he/she is still alive at this moment ?

just that might help me to get an idea on how it works

That's just a big Transform, then.  "Pushing them up and down the karma path" is just the special effect.  So you turn that villain who is attacking you (born to a poor family, disadvantaged, bitter at the world) into a wealthy guy who inherited a bunch of money, never had problems, and so never went and had that radiation accident.  He turns from a 350 point villain into a normal guy with 15 points of wealth.  Then he screams and runs because there's a super fight going on and he's just a dude.

The "change back" conditions would be to have the person do enough stuff to bring his karma back to where it was supposed to be.  So if he goes out and starts robbing banks again or something, then eventually he might revert back to his old self.

I'll read a bit about this Spiritual Transform LL :)

In Fact I think it might be a compound transform : one for the bodyswapping body (physical) and one for the Karma thingy (spiritual)...

or am I trying to be too explicit ?

@Cassandra : keep the good idea to add Luck/Unluck :)

Well, I disagree with the idea of "spiritual" transforms, since Hero doesn't have any spirit rules.  I get why they created the idea, thematically, but we don't have a "spirit" stat.

So basically it's a Severe Transform (Anybody Into Any other person with another Karma) ?

Or else Extradimensional Movement, to a universe where the person made different choices and therefore has a different karma.

I dunno.

Enough knockback will change anyone's karma.

;)

Though I admit to a certain sense of glee at a power that can turn a target into the form they deserve to be based on their past deeds, perhaps continuous over time so the longer they behave that way, the more intense the transfiguration, with healing from the transformation based on making amends for their past wrongs.

Pinocchio, Bottom, and Eustace Scrubb come to mind.

If one does choose to use Spiritual Transform, I suggest the target number be, not BOD or EGO but some set fraction of the character's Total Points, including XP and Complications. If "spirit" means anything, wouldn't it mean "everything the character is?"

I just considered it a way to expand the utility of Spiritual Transform, since it already existed; as neither Physical nor Mental Transform seemed an appropriate mechanism to bestow or remove Perks, impose Social Complications, or the like. And FWIW I usually used the target's PRE score as the target number in this case, on the rationale that the Transform affected the character's relationship to society as a whole, and PRE was most relevant to such relationships.

Listening to you all, that give me marvelous ideas ^^

Here is what I come up with, any comment welcome as I'm unsure about the Specific Modifier I put about the 1/10th CP part (on lower character levels it makes it easier, and more difficult on Supers, which is fine)

Vipāka Karma:  Major Transform 3d6-1 (A Human Into a Human With Another Karma/Life, from the transformation based on making amends for their past wrongs), Transform Succeeds When It Scores A Number Of BODY Equal To The Double Of 1/10th the Target's Total Points, including XP and Complications (+0), Variable Special Effects (Target may be turned into any other person with a bad karma (unluck) or good Karma (Luck); +1/4), Personal Immunity (+1/4) (37 Active Points)
