(Semi-)WWYCD: New Base, New Living Quarters

Marcus Impudite

Recommended Posts

Your character's team recently acquired a new base (either via government sponsorship, a wealthier member of the team paying for it all, or the team simply taking over the base of a villain or villain group they recently defeated, whatever works for your group). The new base is big enough for each member of the team to have their own private living quarters and an office if they want it. Living quarters and offices may be furnished and decorated according to the new occupant's tastes. What would your character's new quarters/office be like?

Quasar - In his secret ID Quasar is an experimental physicist and professor.  But he is also the team leader and spokesman for the team.  So half of it would look like a high energy particle physics lab, and the other half would look like, well, an office.

Mystica - You can never have enough library space.  Plus she needs a storage, since she collects mystical books, artifacts, and foci from the mystical villains she fights.

Shadowhunter - Dos is a dos.  He's only ever use it when he's trying to hide from his DNPCs.

Badger- really prefers solitude, in his cave near nowhere, where he can improve his skills as needed, alone.  Probably be unwilling to spend much time there.  THough, he might have a space, I suppose,  have to be a secluded area.  Fairly "Spartan".  If a gadgeteer teammate could create something to help improve his training quicker, he could be persuaded to spend more time there.

Frosty Bob- a shooting range, and a liquor cabinet can go a long way.....

Lady Heart: Being a "Magical Girl", the bedroom would look girly, with pink and lace everywhere, with Anime based wall scrolls on the wall. Considering that Lady Heart is a teenage boy who transforms into a powered girl form, the bedroom is for appearances only, and he rarely stays there. The office looks like a typical office, except for a bookshelf of manga, and a pile of homework on the desk.

Carver (flying telekinetic surfer dude) has a big screen tv, game consoles, comfy couch (but no bed, since he doesn't need much sleep), and a fridge stocked with energy drinks. He also wants a balcony to make it easier to fly to the beach and surf.

Bulletman (punisher type) has a crime lab, firing range, spartan living quarters, and a TV set perpetually tuned to Fox News.

Paladin (powered armor) wants a general tech lab.

Biblio-Felia (catgirl-librarian) wants lots of space for books.

Kid Lightning (martial artist) needs workout space.

Iron Maiden - An apartment with a separate entrance, either a balcony or rooftop access (she's a flier). Minimal decoration; she prefers to live on her own, and will use the quarters only when necessary.

Black Knight - A typical apartment with kitchen, large flatscreen tv, lots of gameboxes, sound system.

Hell's Angel - Ditto Iron Maiden.

Silverstreak - Large apartment, expensively decorated, with YUGE walk-in closets (she's a clotheshorse when not in costume), with separate entrance. Also, a well-stocked kitchen.

Man-Ape - A large apartment with heavy-duty furniture (he weights 800 lbs), home theatre with virtually every film and most tv shows ever made available for viewing. (Former actor and still movie-buff.)

Doctor Syence - Small apartment, minimally furnished save for state-of-the-art computer/internet system; large lab/workshop for tinkering.

Merlin: Would go for a mix of the old and new; a near-copy of his converted Regency-era flat in Chelsea, only with the rooms more logically arranged and sized (his bathroom was nearly as big as his master bedroom, and his maid's quarters were within 100 square feet of his own in terms of size). Some vintage or antique furniture, decorations and dishware. All "mod cons" though, including a robot cook/butler. (He'd stop short of computerizing everything, though - he remains a creature of the Second World War in that regard.) He'll have a computer terminal but no real television. His colleagues constantly recommend new movies and shows for him to "catch up" with this thing called "Webflicks", anyway. Garage for the motorcar, with tools and frequently-needed spares. His own armoury and gadgets shop. Firing range for pistols. Being the leader of his group, he will maintain his office near common areas such as the monitor room. Hidden emergency exit that not even his teammates know about - unless the place is on fire and it's the only way out.

Casey: You know those professional-level automotive service bays, like you see in those reality TV programs? Tools, parts, and manuals galore? Paint shop? Floor so clean you can deliver a baby on it? Yes, one of those. His own fuel station - why should the humans be the only ones who can get food at home? And a robot maintenance butler for when his "owner" isn't around - every so often they need to get out without him, too.

Mimic would have a huge screened TV, and a monstrous collections of DVD, blue rays, as for CD and a Hifi.

She's not able to use computers yet so... and tons of children books as she is nearly illiterate and learn about the world from TV shows.

And of course tons if odd and useless objects, toys or outfits, as one one do discovering a world she just joined.

Brickhouse would have a very ordered flat, from her navy background, with a collectin of photo books, and a dressing, including a large closet for her shoes/heels. And a white persan cat ! Some posters and calendars of her from Playboy, Pirelli, or Maxim even would ornate a wall, as Trophies from her model career.

The Flame: Desk and normal paraphenalia but the whole place would be fire proofed and there would be extra extinguishers in the room. As a founder and leader of the team on occassions, there would be good comms access across the base and with New Scotland Yard and Parliament.

The Magician: While he would have a normal bed etc, there would be more book space for books on the occult and engineering. The Magican was an inventor and as well as designing magic tricks for shows he also invented Aracneida's spider guns and hover platform after she lost her powers. As a result he would have an area to design new gadgets.

The British Bulldog: The Bulldog was a brickie (construction labourer) and so lived off base with his wife and child. His quarters on base would be cooler than the rest of the base as he has to pant like a dog. Also his hands are paws so the door arrangement would be set to allow for this. He also only saw in black and white so notices would be keyed to allow him to understand regardless.

Electralite: As one of the younger members she would have books for the college courses she was doing. Also the room would be hardened against energy blasts.

The Unicorn: As the resident brick the room would be strengthened and would be solid. Furnishings would take account of the fact that he has a horn in the middle of his forehead.

The Demoness: There would be very little indication that the occupant had anything to with magic. Apart from raising her young son, there is a very large cot where she sleeps. If you have seen the Ron Ely Doc Savage film you would know what this was. The room is bright and has books on healing and medicine.

Valiant (he's a Superman-like alien who arrived on Earth as an adult, or so he thinks anyway) -- He's got a secret ID he's trying to maintain, so I doubt he'd move to the base.  He would probably leave the quarters furnished however they came.  Generic furniture.  He might put a few pictures on the walls (a landscape, a boat on the ocean, etc).  Might put a few pictures of smiling people on his desk (it's what humans seem to do).  He doesn't have any family of his own, so he'd probably just go with the ones that came with the frames.  He's not exactly an interior decorator.  Some of the things might not match up right, he's barely familiar with human culture (he hasn't been here long), He might have a picture of Joseph Stalin next to a picture of Martin Luther King, and not see any problem with it because he doesn't know who either of them are except "they're famous, right?" (until someone tells him).

Kid Metropolis (his latent psychic powers activated as he was about to be made a human sacrifice by DEMON, the ensuing spell-gone-wrong gave him city elemental powers) -- He's just 14, so he'd probably have a futon, a big TV, a bunch of video games, music posters on the walls, etc.  The kind of thing a 14 year old has.  The office would remain empty, because that's for grown-ups.  The idea of knocking out a wall and having bigger quarters would never occur to him.

Huntsman (a very Batman-like vigilante, but better adjusted because his parents died in an accident when he was a teen instead of being gunned down by a crook) -- He lives in the Dakota building in NYC, so he likely won't be moving to the new base.  His campaign is set in the early 80s, and thanks to his intervention, it was Yoko who got shot and not John.  He'd have very nicely decorated quarters, tasteful and expensive.  Maybe he'd keep some things at the base that don't go with his home.  Trophies and the like, some signed Beatles stuff.  Superhero things that he wouldn't be able to explain to the NYC social scene.

To avoid confusion with this fine fellow:

(until someone tells him).

I'll refer to my guy as My Valiant.

As a former TV and movie actor as well as current minor celebrity, My Valiant would have both an "office" and a bedroom on the second floor. The "office" is really just a place to display memorabilia and gather people together for social events. Imagine a Los Angeles cliff-side house with lots of glass to enjoy city vistas. Add some well-made display cases, artfully decorate the walls with posters and photos, and sprinkle in some couches and tables, and that's My Valiant's office. The bedroom is surprising bland and functional by comparison. It's a place to sleep and store clothes. Of course there is a secret exit via underground tunnel. What's the point of having more money than you know what to do with if you don't indulge in a secret door... or two.

The Protectors built a Base for The Hollywood Knights after stopping them from Purifying the Earth by destroying while under Coatilcue's influence.

Base: Citidel 2.0 is now under construction.

Computer: ? (AI)

Followers:? (Support Staff)

Vehicle: ? Super Transport Craft

Street Angel is the teams public Field Leader. His office would be in the public area next to the entry way. His room has a small port hole he can teleport through. Otherwise it is utilitarian.

13 Black's Office would be a room with Trees in it with limbs large enough for a 100lb cat to lay on them comfortably. Probably taking two floors up with her office's height. With Thick carpeting that had 6" memory foam padding under it.(she has kittens). She would have a regular desk with a computer on it with no keyboard or mouse (or if they were present, they would be shoved off to a corner and dusty from disuse). She would have more of a Large Cat tree for a "chair".  (she's Cyberkinetic/CyberTelepathic etc) Probably a big screen TV on one wall with a Game console and controllers for the Kittens.
Keep in mind she's a ~100lb Uplifted Housecat with Telekinesis and mental powers that are focused on Computers.

Dolofio would have a large table in the middle of his room, containing a lot of strange liquids. He also has a lot of storage around the room, mostly for his experimentation. Finally, he has a large coffin underneath the table, mostly to finally wait on his experiment of human zombification.

Kid Ronin (Teen Mystic Martial Artist):  A undisciplined teenage superhero with armed with a magical sword, and generations of martial arts mastery.

Quarters:  There are various "keep out" signs and cliché anime/ninja posters on his quarter's doorway. Inside his room clothes are scattered everywhere, his bed has never been made, and the whole place smells like sweat and angst. There is a laptop set up on a small folding table by the bed, an end table with a generic lamp, and a small folding bookshelf with a few high-school text books and a copies of "The Complete Idiots Guide to Martial Arts" and "Superheroics for Dummies" prominently displayed. A backpack is left on the bed, spilling its assorted papers amongst the disheveled sheets. There is an open pizza box with a single slice of week-old pizza and a stack of magazines left in what would have been the only empty space in the middle of the room. The most unusual thing in the room is the ornate looking sword propped against the end table in its scabbard.

Office:  The office is completely untouched; as far as anyone can tell Kid Ronin has never been inside, or used it for anything.

Notes: Kid Ronin received his powers when the sword was mailed to him by an unknown party. The powerful magical artifact chose him as its next master/successor. The sword is effectively indestructible and able to cut through almost anything.. Kid Ronin can instantly call the sword to his hand, and no one else can draw the sword from its scabbard. Most importantly, the sword passes to its current wielder the collective martial experience and skills of every wielder before it; making Kid Ronin one of the most deadly and skilled martial artists in the world.

Fireflash would decorate her quarters with lots of soft cushions and overstuffed furniture, a top of the line computer and desk for studying and a lot of powerful refrigerated air conditioners to stay comfortable. Also a Knock First!!! on the door, given she tends to go nude in private.

Can Opener (Basically, a robot designed and programmed to open things - ANY things) would just plug itself into an outlet in the kitchen and be on call for meals and snacks at any time (also programmed as cook and nutritionist/dietician.) If the team insists on giving it a room, it will be near the kitchen if possible and furnished with a computer and internet connection and a television (usually tuned to the cooking channel or to news or to true crime programs) and a large collection of jars, boxes, and other things that can be compulsively opened and closed repeatedly.

Lucius Alexander

A horse would live in a stable but a palindromedary would live in an unstable.
