Hay i ned some help on howe i coud build an AI as a charter that normely use a starship as its main body but has the abilety to downlode it self in to a robitic body to interact with other players ans the world esyer like EDI from mass efect. Or Cortana form halo (she onces tock control over at covenant super carier)

Can you tell us more?

 

Will the character be able to "be" both a space ship and a robot at the same time, or is there at any given time only a single "seat of consciousness?"

my thoht wass somting like EDI i has the ship as its primery mane fraim but can either duplicate itself or downlode it self in to a robotic boddy to interact more esely with the world. If i woud hawe only one seat of consciousness it woud be the ship

My general advise is to not mix up special effect and game effect. What you are playing is not a ship with a humanoid avatar. But a humanoid with a direct link to a spaceship. I consider it a faulty approach to try to model "Real World body" for AI's. That usually is more trouble then it is worth.

Just build that body like you would build any organic technopath that somehow melded with said ship.

 

Now keep in mind, that your points will also be quite limited. This is the Star Hero Forum, wich usually means heroic campaigns. You will not have a lot of points for stuff like Life Support or Superhuman characteristics. Much less abilities like "being linked up to the ship".

If the campaign uses buyable equipment and has robot bodies, maybe you could buy the body. You still would have to model teh ability to switch bodies, however:

APG I has two Rulesets for Posession - one based on mental powers, one based on desolidification. Either one might be able to fit the bill

 

If this actually is a superheroic character, you really have to ask yourself if the ship itself will play any role in the average adventure. If not, modelling it serves no purpose.

If it does, how much use will the body actually be compared to a armed spaceship?

Who runs the ship when the AI is downloaded?

Answer that and we may begin.

 

Fiction often has the downloaded AI leaving the ship. Not realistic just often that way.

I'd lean to a form of duplication.

Just had another thought on this.

 

  1. What happens to android body when not in use?
  2. Does the ship have a spare parts pool?
  3. Or a VPP of some sort?

What if The android body was made out resources from the spare parts pool. But while the android is out those resources were tied up and unavailable?

 

A lot depend on how the AT is built and has access to the ship too.
