Mathew Robert Ignash
Reposting this with updated links, since the original thread is locks and has broken links to my old site. -- Here are a selection of characters from the Heroes Unlimited series, converted into Champions 4th edition rules. These might be useful as characters in your game, or as a guide to converting Heroes Unlimited to Champions. Enjoy! Christopher R Taylor
You should bundle them up and put them into downloads
Armitage
Wasn't Kevin Siembieda known at one time for throwing fits if someone converted characters from his game systems into any other system? Ah yes, according to Wikipedia: Palladium is aggressive in preventing wide distribution of fan-made conversions of their games to other systems (such as the D20 System), and also strongly discourages converting the intellectual property of others into their system; while they cannot prevent it, doing so is not allowed in venues owned by Palladium Books. Palladium also routinely threatens legal action against fans who distribute conversions in other venues by issuance of cease and desist orders. When asked why Palladium was so much stricter in regard to conversions than other game companies, Siembieda stated that the policy had been adopted due to advice from Palladium's lawyers, to shield Palladium from liability for conversions of other parties' intellectual property. Christopher R Taylor
Best part of that game was the Jim Steranko cover art
csyphrett
It didn't help that Todd MacFarlane sued over Nightspawn/nightbane CES
Ninja-Bear
I'll have to check it out. I always wanted to use the random tables for quick Hero generation.
Ninja-Bear
Matthew I noticed that Pong only spent 7 pts on martial maneuvers which is below minimum. Are you just declaring GM perrogotive?
Mathew Robert Ignash
Matthew I noticed that Pong only spent 7 pts on martial maneuvers which is below minimum. Are you just declaring GM perrogotive? I was just translating them directly from her Heroes Unlimited character sheet, and she had maneuvers that equaled Martial Grab and Martial Escape. I guess you could add another or just say she is a special case, being a conversion from another system, or increase to cost of those martial arts to the minimum . Ninja-Bear
Another question. How did you decide on active points on powers?
Mathew Robert Ignash
I didn't go by active points, but when I did them maximus number of SDC a power did in damage and converted it to BODY damage. For stats I tried to convert evenly, for strength I went by how much the character could lift and translated that. I tried to translate to real world numbers where possible. Like Constitution's growing powers, I just went by how big he could grow in the game, and calculated how many levels of growth that needed. For a character who could fly, I figures out how may MPH he could fly, and worked back from there. I had to use some math for calculating speed, since the Palladium round is 15 second, and in Champions a turn is 12 seconds. palladium number divided by 15 times 12 gives you the speed. The characters don't end up very balanced if you translate them, sadly, for instance Onslaught is considered a brick in his game, but only has a STR of 35 here! I got that number by figuring out how many pounds he can lift. In Palladium their lifting capacity is severely under rated (Most large characters cannot lift their own body weight!) Ninja-Bear
Thanks. Oh the perils of translating game systems.
