Character Patchwork: The Tome Keeperer

Hi heros. Creating the Tome Keeper, undead side, is easy. Full Life Support, Regeneration (Resurrection), some decent STR, ect, ect. But his book gives him more abilities.

He is able to know, by reading the book, what evils the subject of the story has done. Should this be some sort of telepathy? The book is not exactly a focus. By reading the story to his victim, the supernatural revents (and other revenge and vengeance seeking supernatural agents) can always find him, regardless of how he hides. Targets who don't know they are targeted become awair of it.

And, what other powers can the book have? Blast (throw the book at em)? Mental Blast (unerved by the story or bad macabre pun)?

I did the math, and here is the power. Note, the book (The Tome Of Horrors) is only a special effect, and not a focus/physical manifestation.

A Really Scary Story, Staring YOU!: Clairsentience (Sight, Hearing, Smell/Taist, Touch, Mental, Retrocognition, Mobile Perception Point), Reduced Endurance (0 END: +1/2), Usable On Others (Everyone Within 10m Of Reader, Can Force Power Onto Others, Can Control Power, Can Grant Power To Others Or Self, Reader Must Be In Line Of Sight Of Book, Reader Must Remain Close To Book: +3), Line Of Sight (+1/2), Indirect (Path Of Power Is Always Book: +1/4), Retrocognition Only (-1), Vague And Unclear (Your Reading A Story After All: -1/2), Extra Time (The Story Must Be Read, One Turn Mimimun: -1 1/4), Incantation (Must Either Read Story, Or Have Story Read Outloud To Him: -1/4), No Conscious Control (The Book Choose The Story: -1), One Use At A Time (Only One Story Exists Till It Ends: -1). Active Cost: 361. Real Cost: 60. END Cost: 0.

Not really familiar with Tome Keeper, but I had some questions/comments about your power build.

1. Why buy all the sense groups if "vague and unclear" restricts that? Granted, I took that from your previous post, but it said "you don't actually smell, taste, etc." It might be cheaper to do it the other route.

2. Is the line of sight to the book or to the target? It might already be covered in the UOO advantage, but not sure.

3. Having a story read aloud to you might constitute Requires Multiple Users limitation.

4. You mentioned the book is not a Focus. If he's in the middle of reading and someone takes/destroys the book, is the power interrupted?

Too true, though, your spelling is terribly good. ;)

Well, the Tome Keeper can read it to you, or the target can read it himself. As for vauge and unclear, this is the story effect. Lets say your reading a story about a bum eating a ham sandwich. You get a word picture about how the bum is dressed, that he haven't had a bath in two years, that the sandwich is the most delisous sandwich in the world, and you know the bum's frame of mind. You also get a word picture of him nomming loudly while eating the sandwich. Thing is, you can't really see him, hear him, smell him, taist the sandwich, or trully know the mindframe of the bum, cause your not him. It is like reading the story.

Of course, the purpose of the book is that the book's subject is the person reading or being read the book, so...

2. Is the line of sight to the book or to the target? It might already be covered in the UOO advantage, but not sure.

LOS to the book, unless the Tome Keeper is reading outloud, which is still the book. Note: That the target needs not to see the book if it is being read to him, only hear it.

3. Having a story read aloud to you might constitute Requires Multiple Users limitation.

Not realy. It only takes one person to read it.

4. You mentioned the book is not a Focus. If he's in the middle of reading and someone takes/destroys the book, is the power interrupted?

It can be interrupted, but only temporary. Once the book is out of the target's grip, it returns to the Tome Keeper. It can't be destroyed, but it can seem to be destroyed. Once out of sight, it returns unharmed to the Tome Keeper.

Also, it can show up to the target like a bad penny, in the most scary way possible.

Too true, though, your spelling is terribly good. ;)

There is a reason I call myself the mispellion master.
