Because of that joke there's an actual tool in the tool belt of a starship engineer in the Star Wars game from West End Games called "Force Tape". I find it odd that no one has yet mentioned the example of Quicksilver using duct tape as an improvised Entangle, in "Days of Future Past", when they are breaking Magneto out of the prison underneath the Pentagon. (If someone did, I apologize; I must have missed that post.)
