Logic and causality no longer hold, and I'm only on the second page of the finals I'm grading.

I never cease to be amazed at the number of my students who don't realize that NaCl dissolves in water.

YOU LIVE ON THE SHORES OF THE LARGEST SALTWATER LAKE IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE, YOU IMBECILES!

Okay, I'm done.

Sing to the tune of My Country Tis Of Thee (God Save the Queen for you Commonwealth types):

Good Lord this paper sucks

It flows like ruptured ducks

Wading through tar

Don't need no steenking facts

Whack logic with an ax

Make prof want to swallow tacks

This paper sucks

You have students that know what NaCl even is?  Most teachers would be jealous.

More like ... There's nothing like grading exams to demonstrate to yourself just how ineffective you are in your chosen profession.

Well said, Dr. Sisyphus.

On the other hand, it's worth remembering this old nugget of wisdom: "You can lead a kid to college, bit you can't make 'em think."

"Why do we have to learn this crap about blah blah blah ionic bonds blah blah enthalpy blah blah phase change? What difference is it going to make to our jobs at the ice cream plant or the Highways Department?"
