wcw43921
The Article At IO9 Normally I'm not a fan of Seth MacFarlane--but this looks like Star Trek meets Guardians Of The Galaxy. I may give this a shot. Hermit
Steve
It seems like it might be worth watching the first episode, but I'm not much of a fan of his either. If they can manage fusing Guardians of the Galaxy with Star Trek, I'll keep watching.
Sociotard
I dunno. Galaxy Quest left a very high bar for Star Trek satire. Pariah, Netzilla, Lord Mhoram and 1 other
Pattern Ghost
I guess Adrianne Palicki's not coming back to Agents of SHIELD. Trailer didn't hit my funny bone at all, but I'll check it out anyway.
wcw43921
I dunno. Galaxy Quest left a very high bar for Star Trek satire. To my mind, Galaxy Quest wasn't so much about satirizing Star Trek as it was about satirizing the actors playing it. Apart from the opening scene, we saw very little of the actual show, just the actors trying to live up to their roles. Enforcer84
Old Man
Yes, but in so doing they were satirizing the show. "Oh, I see you managed to take your shirt off." "What is this thing? I mean, it serves no useful purpose for there to be a bunch of chompy, crushy things in the middle of a hallway." "Ducts! Why is it always ducts?" That it was also one of the top three Star Trek films ever made is just gravy. Burrito Boy, Iuz the Evil and Pariah
mattingly
It looks a lot funnier than Powerless, and that got decent toward the end.
Xavier Onassiss
Looks to me like a mash-up of Galaxy Quest and Other Space, with the least funny bits of both, and no, Seth MacFarlane cannot carry this thing.
Old Man
I'll give it a shot. If it's half as funny as Galaxy Quest it'd be worth watching.
Lord Mhoram
I tend to dislike Seth's work. Some of it I despise. I'll give this an episode or two, but based on the trailer it looks like humor I don't especially like. I'd like a parody of star trek to have more.. subtle .. humor, I think. Michael Hopcroft
I give Seth McFarlane credit for being good with gags. There have been some really good gags in Family Guy, especially throwaway references like this one: the problem with Family Guy is that every character is horribly unpleasant (in different ways) and incapable of empathy. At least Hank Hill (Mike Judge's King of the Hill) tried to do the right thing. Peter Griffin is a selfish shmuck for its own sake. So there are going to be funny moments in The Orville. The question is whether the characters will be interesting enough that we care.
zslane
I like Seth McFarlane and his style of humor. However, he does have a penchant for extending a gag past the point of funny. I'll give this show a shot and see if it entertains me or annoys me.

Pattern Ghost
Nick Blood aka Lance Hunter is coming back to Agents of SHIELD. Too bad they aren't both coming back. Back on topic: Saw first episode of The Orville tonight. Was pretty OK. They need to get out of the habit of explaining the jokes fast, IMO. We're going to keep watching and see if it gets better or at least stays watchable.

Pariah
Honestly, the only thing Seth MacFarlane has ever done that I can stand to watch for more than 30 seconds is Cosmos. And he was just the money for that. There are many of you here whose opinions I trust. I'm relying heavily on you to help me determine whether The Orville is worth watching. bigdamnhero and Burrito Boy
Spence
Watched the pilot. Not bad. For the first episode of a new series it really wasn't bad. When you remember back how painful the first few episodes of TNG were. This will probably do well once it gets going. A least it isn't all dark and doomy... Marcus Impudite
Where and when is this on? Based on what I've seen of it versus Discovery, I think I'm more likely to favor this series.
