tiger
Okay as mentioned in my other post I'm working on a Star Hero/Fantasy Hero type campaign. Debating on completing it and releasing it as a product. I need a good name for the campaign, I've put a few in the poll. Please list any others you think of and we might add them to the poll. Here is a small PDF with some of the thoughts for the campaign. Planets for the campaign.pdf

Tjack
None of those is a name for a campaign. Those are description of styles. George Lucas didn't call his movie Sci-Fi with elements of Aurthurian legend and '30's serials. It was "Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope". Gene Roddenberry described his idea for a new TV series to NBC execs as "Wagon Train to the stars" but he named it Star Trek. Decide what the basic elements of what will bring these different characters together are. Is it fighting an evil empire, establishing a benevolent empire or federation? Maybe it's loyalty to the ship that's both their way of making a living and their home? In Comics both the books and the Games it's easier, the name of thing in question is generally the name of the team. X-Men, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Champions, Strike Force, etc. With Sci- Fi it's a little tougher but think of your game as if it's a movie or show. What would the name be then? Old Man
Definitely an interesting campaign concept. I'm torn as to whether it's interplanetary fantasy or pulp sci-fi with magic. Totally random naming ideas that probably suck: Stars & Sorcery Worlds & Wizardry Spells & Spaceships Astralnauts of the Outer Spheres ...a little help here? Anyone? IndianaJoe3
I agree with Tjack - all of the suggested names are really dull. I called my game, "Corsairs of the Black Sea." How about, "Sailing the Cosmic Ether"?
Hyper-Man
I think a name based on a unifying story 'vehicle' might be what's needed. The anime Outlaw Star comes to mind as one actually named after the team's vehicle. It just depends on how important you want to make a particular magufin among different worlds and such. The names submitted so far are all good as the ": a universe of ..." to follow the MAIN story/campaign/setting name. HM

Steve
How about "Across A Sea Of Stars" or just "Star Sea" for a name?
Mr. Touch
Tiger, Best advice I can offer is to visit a bookstore of your choice and peruse the titles of various sci-fi novels. While there may not be an exact titling pattern, notice how professional authors name their works in order to grab the attention of a potential reader. Better still, think of particular works you enjoy and examine their titles. If this method doesn't strike you as workable, Plan B might be to decide on a few dramatic words that basically sum up your entire campaign, without giving any real secrets away. Consider, as examples, Star Wars or Event Horizon. Even The Empire Strikes Back summed up the plot without really giving anything away. I just happen to be designing a HERO System SF campaign myself. It starts off with the characters just going through the motions of another ordinary day in whatever mundane job each of them chooses. Except...all of a sudden, nobody seems to know who they are. Their friends, relatives, work buddies, etc. all treat them as total strangers. The characters need to find out why this is happening. An alternate reality? Some low-profile agency performing psychological experiments on them? I decided to name my campaign Severed Identity. I got the idea the day the massive Equifax hack occurred. Best of luck, - Mr. Touch

Spence
So you have a very generalized setting and comment on tech and magic/psi availability plus they have ships. There is nothing to tell me the type of game/adventure. What are the PC's going to do? What is the general reason to be there? What will be the theme? A Campaign Name announces the theme and type of game it will be. Corsairs of the Orion Reach invokes Space Buccaneers or Space Pirates. Name follows theme....
