Transmit Senses - expanded

dsatow

Question

Lets expand this a bit...

HIGH RANGE RADIO PERCEPTION

12 Character Points (Detect Broadcast Spectrum Transmissions [5 Character Points], Increased Arc Of Perception [360 Degrees], Transmit; Passive).

The character can perceive and transmit along the entire broadcast spectrum, from radio, to television, to cellular telephone transmissions. ( This doesn’t guarantee he can understand or decipher the transmissions; they may be encoded, encrypted, digitized, or otherwise “scrambled” to prevent him from understanding them.) If a character or device can only receive and transmit in certain bands of the spectrum (such as only television), he can take a Limitation on his HRRP (the value of the Limitation depends on how restricted his HRRP is, but it’s usually a -1⁄2 or -1 Limitation). HRRP also allows characters to sense radar emissions. Characters with HRRP may locate a specific frequency or channel by succeeding with an INT Roll.

  1. Can this power transmit not just the character's voice and image but the sights and sounds around him or is this like discriminatory with sight where it has a partial effect?  I.E. can you use HRRP to create the helmet cams in Aliens?
    1. a. If yes, then can the user use all the senses available to the character such as telescopic, clairsentience, IR, mental awareness, etc.
  2. Can you use HRRP to produce false images?  To create fake news or alternative facts.  Distorting a broadcast to make the heroes seem villainous.  Replacing attack robots with defenseless people.  Changing an empty warehouse where a battle is taking place with a daycare scene.

Evil reporters want to know and need to know the alternate facts.  Its all about the ratings baby!

1. This is covered by the rules defining Transmit on 6E1 215. I don't see any need to define things any further; any other issues that arise can be left to the GM.

2. This is best left to common sense, and where necessary analogizing to other senses. Could you, if you had a radio, broadcast a fake news report? Could you just as easily broadcast it on TV with fake images? I don't see any need to define things any further; any other issues that arise can be left to the GM.
