Christopher R Taylor
Quite a few more people play RPGs today than did when they first came out. Back when Fantasy Hero first came out, most people barely knew what a d20 is, but these days tons of people grew up playing these games (and it has influenced their writing, songs, and film making). Most of the people on this list play D&D, sadly, but they probably could be convinced to branch out. I know if I was on a movie set waiting for lighting or setups or whatever, I'd want to get everyone into a game. Lots of downtime in film making while they do other stuff. The following is a list of people known to at least have played some, from interviews, bios, wikipedia pages etc. Some probably only played a little in youth. Some like Robin Williams used to play before dying so arent' listed. Ben Afflek. actor, screenwriter, director Sean Astin, actor Fairuza Balk; Actress Bruce Campbell; Actor Dave Chappelle, comic Stephen Colbert; actor, talk show host Billy Crystal, actor, comedian, actor Rivers Cuomo; Singer (Weezer) Vin Diesel, actor John Dolmayan; musician (System of a Down) Karen Evans, writer for Luann comic strip Conchata Ferrell, actress Mateo Gil, film writer, director Alex de la Iglesia, film writer, producer, director has written Spanish Call of Cthulhu scenarios Johnny Knoxville; lunatic Matthew Lillard, actor Jennifer Lopez, actress Dolly Little; porn actress Ewen MacGregor, actor Michelle Malkin; columnist, author Auturo Perez Reverte, novelist, journalist Eric Raymond; software developer Ben Sargeant, cartoonist Jason Statham; actor Jacques Villeneuve, race driver Melanie Villeneuve, concert pianist (sister of Jacques) Brian Warner (Marilyn Manson), musician Wil Wheaton; actor Mike Brown; coach for L.A. Lakers Peter Mayhew; actor Jake Lloyd; actor Kimberly Kane; porn actress Michael Myers; actor, director Sherman Alexie; poet, author Bill Amend; cartoonist (Foxtrot) Anderson Cooper; TV news anchor Felicia Day; geek personality Judi Dench; actor Matt Groenig; artist, cartoonist Elon Musk; entrepreneur Joseph Gordon-Levitt; actor, director Kevin Smith; director, actor Jon Favreau; director, actor Joss Whedon; director, writer Trey Parker; writer, actor Brian Posehn; comedian, actor Deborah Ann Woll; actor Lexia Doig; actor Sasha Gray; actress George R R Martin; author Chris Hardwick; comedian, actor, writer Tim Duncan; athlete Ta-Nahisi Coates; writer, editor of Atlantic Magazine Steven Spielberg; director Patton Oswald; actor, comedian, writer John C. Reilly; actor Moby; musician Curt Schilling; athlete Dan Harmon; director, producer R.A. Salvatore; author Sharon McCrumb; author Karl Urban; actor Matt Damon; actor Matt Stone; actor, writer Eddie Izzard; comedian, actor David Duchovny; actor Steven King; author Jack Black; actor, comedian There are probably more but that's what I've been able to dig up. We need to get these people playing Hero

Lucius
How many of those play actual Role Playing Games, as opposed to computer games? Lucius Alexander and an obscure palindromedary
Christopher R Taylor
Supposedly all are D&D players, sit down with funny dice. Not sure how many times they've played, but their info all mentions it at least once in their life. Most I think were when they are younger, although allegedly Dame Judi Densh runs games with her grandkids.
Nolgroth
Wil Wheaton runs a YouTube channel that promotes roleplaying. In some ways, he is a pro-RPG activist. There are some guest stars that might add to that very "wall of text"-ish list up there.
massey
This seems a little like those lists of "Hollywood Republicans" or other things, where because Sarah Michelle Gellar once said something vaguely conservative-ish, she'll appear on the list forever. I'm sure a lot of famous people have tried role-playing games at some point in their lives, I really just don't see J-Lo as being an avid D&D player. Don't forget Geek and Sundry, which produces TableTop and is Wil's & Felicia Day's project, promotes role-playing quite strongly, too. It has shows about game-mastering and others that are like game sessions on video.
Christopher R Taylor
I agree, I think probably some of them (maybe a lot) are people who mentioned they played once and got listed. I know some surprising people on there are hobby gamers though.
