Again, please take this with a grain of salt: I'd probably say he could control common uses of the device by making an active point control cost. The DMCV would be 0 + any DMCV of the suit. Thus machine control man might not be able to control Ironman's mega omni blaster but his flight systems being only 45 active or the super strength of the suit +45 str could be done. This would be to make the suit do something it would ordinarily do. The strength to punch or the jets to fly. To make the suit's power do something it wasn't designed to do but theoretically is possible, like fly under water would be +10 to +20. To make the suit do something it would not want to do like exert thrust but not allow it to vent the exhaust or anything like "taking off the safeties" would be +20 to +30.
