Killerclown
I came up with a basic outline for a villain to use in Champions if i ever get it. The basic idea is a villain who is obsessed with flight and aviation . His obsession is staved at first by stealing airplanes, but, as time goes by he becomes so obsessed with flying that he gene-splices himself and effectively makes himself half-man half-bird. This obsession was started by his father who unfortunatley died after being tossed of a airplane. My villain, whose name is Icarus, wondered if his father's death could've been prevented if his father had the ability to fly a bird. So, he pretty much got more and more obsessed with flight as he pondered this idea and studied bird wings and made his own flight suits, which failed epically. He tried to get his pilot's liscense, but failed. That caused him to become so obsessed with flying that he decided he was gonna be a pilot with or without a liscense. So, he started to steal planes throughout Millienium City and once hhe was donge flying them, he would sell them to the highest bidder. My question is how would you make him threatening mechanics wise both in human form and in human-bird hybrid form?
Ninja-Bear
Of course this is subject to campaign guidelines and taste. -Flight and perhaps a little faster than your hero's flight. -combat and movement skill levels to be agile opponent -telescopic vision -hka for claws -ha for wing buffet
Hyper-Man
Sounds a lot like a tech based version of Archangel from the X-men. Here is an old 5e version created by board member edsel you probably could mine for ideas: http://www.killershrike.com/MiscCharacters/Contributions/Edsel/Supers/Marvel/Archangel.HTML HM
Killerclown
I might go along with the half-man half-bird idea and also make him a airplane thief. I am now wondering how it would work mechanically to give his henchmen flight suits to help with his capers?
Ninja-Bear
Flight with some sort of focus
Ninja-Bear
HM I was thinking he is more like me Griffin from the old Enemies books.
Killerclown
Good points so far. I am wondering how a bird-man could get human henchmen without creeping them out with his appreance?
mrinku
Ahh, henchmen ain't that fussy. Anyway, maybe he grew his own mutated bird-men? For characters whose main power is flight, Move-By is a good maneuver to specialise in. CSLs in Move-By, Move-through and Grab-by will only set you back 3 points each, and maybe some defences that only protect against the feedback from those to represent his mastery of hit and run tactics. Non-focus wings are often Restrainable. Some Life Support against cold (and a high CON) would be appropriate for high flying. If you haven't yet, go see Spider-Man Homecoming . The Vulture always was one of the best flight-based characters.
Killerclown
Good point with the henchmen. I am just picturing random street thugs with mechanical wings attacthed to them by harnessess. Icarus, of course, calls them his flock. Also, I wonder which one of the current Champions would make a fitting nemesis. I am kinda thinking either Defender, Kinetic, or Witchcraft. Sketchpad
As a human, maybe he used a super-sonic flight harness with some armor. This might also give him micro-missiles (autofire/explosion blast), machine gun gauntlets (autofire RKA), and a Gravity Winch built into the harness (TK). As he transitions to a bird-man, maybe he has claws (HKA), Wing Blades (AP HKA), and maybe a few gadgets that he wore as a human. In both forms, he might have a bonus to DCV based on an acrobatics/aerobatics check.
Ninja-Bear
Should have added that against, minions having a motif similar to the villain is a trope. So go for it!
Cassandra
Daedalus was an inventor who created the wings his son Icarus used in mythology. A super-villain version would be driven mad by the death of his father, and began stealing aircraft, and finally experimental technology in hopes of gaining flight powers. Afterwards he uses his father's work to create a flying suit, but develops a psychosis in which he sees his father, who constantly berates him when his plans fail. L0rd_Magg0t
Maybe some Flight suppression powers as well. Kinda that "King of the Skys" feel. Nothing funnier than that flyer chasing him when suddenly Ooops no more flight powers.
