Yeah, and if Hornibrook could stop throwing so many interceptions... I'm not surprised Wisconsin couldn't beat Ohio, but I was kinda hoping they'd pull it out in the end. *sigh* Maybe next year. Speaking of which, Wisconsin's not done with BYU. They get to come to Madison next September. Hopefully it's not too painful for Pariah. Unless the Committee chooses Alabama over Ohio State later today. Yeah. The other argument for going to 8 is that half the FBS teams currently have no path to winning a national championship. And since we've now established the National Championship game as the ultimate goal for college football, there really ought to be a realistic path to it for all 130 FBS teams. Badger
Well, the extra motivation to want Wisconsin to win was so the committee couldn't have the excuse they so dearly wanted to sneak Alabama in
Badger
or at least give the no paths a chance for a "Little National Champ". You don't have to care as much about that one just let the top 2 of those play a "bowl game" with each other. (possibly mid-level bowl game, but something)
Pariah
Army West Point just won the Commander in Chief's trophy for the first time in more than 20 years. It's nice to see them playing well. They've been in the shadow of Air Force and especially Navy for a long, long time. Meanwhile, little old Weber State (often known out here as 'Just Weber') just completed their most successful season in school history. They advanced to the FCS quarterfinals, where they lost to number 1 James Madison by a field goal as time expired. They finished the season 11-3, and on the heels of down years by BYU, Utah, and Utah State, had easily the best season of any team in the state this year. massey
And now OU moves into a tie for second place in total number of Heisman trophies. Notre Dame and Ohio State have 7 each. OU and USC have 6 each (thanks for the forfeit, Reggie Bush).

Pariah
Army's uniform was designed to honor the 10th Mountain Division, who specializes in Arctic conditions combat training. Seems fitting, all things considered.
Pariah
Southern Miss has a 6-0 lead on Florida State right now. I don't expect it to last, but it sure is amusing for the moment.

Iuz the Evil
Fans in the stands, and eyes on the screen. Simple business decision by the Independence Bowl. But let's not pretend it's anything else or that they are somehow "worthy" of participating. I'd be embarrassed, were I a Seminoles fan. Badger
putting Alabama in the playoffs, has pretty much killed my interest
Pariah
I hope Clemson beats Alabama so badly that the committee is never again tempted to put a team that can't even win their division, never mind their conference, into a four-team college football playoff. Was nothing learned from Ohio State last year?
Hyper-Man
What's Saban's record vs former assistants again? Dabo is the outlier with a 1-1 record I think.
Michael Hopcroft
I was listening to ESPN Radio this afternoon and Alabama are the Vegas favorites to win the title. However, a lot of casual fans (probably like us) are picking Clemson in what may be a case of making wishes and hopeful optimism.
Badger
Alabama, will probably get any calls that go either way. In any case, Alabama is better rested, because they didn't have to earn their way in by playing a conference championship game (they got rewarded for their failure)

West Virginia's performance against Utah was embarrassing, but there's a reason that Utah coach Kyle Whittingham is 11-1 in bowl games in his career.
