I'd just call it a disarm maneuver and leave the "too hot to touch" up to special effects.  You're just wanting to disarm them, not do anything else crazy.  No need to reinvent the wheel.  Maybe put a limitation on it, "not vs lots of ED" or something like that.

Maybe convert the ED into equivalent DCs of STR for determining the STR vs STR roll?

Two ways to do this that come to mind:

Change environment (force a roll to keep holding the item, ego or con perhaps)

KA damage shield that hurts the character so they voluntarily drop it.

Of course there's always teleport the item out of their hand, mind control to force them to drop it, drain strength so they can't hold it, transform the item out of their hand (or them into someone that will not hold the item), etc.  But that's just getting silly.

CE would force them to drop the object.  Since it is environmental, Life Support should override it.

A damaging attack allows the character to keep holding on if he's prepared to take the damage.  CE could have a linked attack to go off if the target does not drop the heated object.

Oh, and you overlooked Extradimensional Movement, AoE Megascale to move the entire campaign to a dimension where the target just dropped the object.  :)
