Planet of the Apes (1968)

In 1972 a spacecraft is launched from Earth to a planet 300 light years away on a flight expected to take 2000 years.  The three surviving Crew Members discover a society run by talking apes who enslave mute savage humans.  The lone survivor discovers that the ship has returned to a future Earth devastated by a nuclear war.

The main plot whole is who would fund a mission that would never actually return for thousands of years.  Why choose a star 300 light years away when the nearest star is 4 light years ago, a mere 30 years flight time?  And if the ship is traveling close to the speed of light then the flight time to a star 300 years ago would be just over 300 hundred years.

Citizen Kane (1941)

The primary plot is driven by a reporter seeking the meaning of Charles Foster Kane's last word, "Rosebud". The journalist interviews many people important in the life of Kane (a powerful newspaper magnate and one-time Presidential Candidate), and in flashback we see the important events of Kane's life, and learn of the man, his successes, and his failures. Ultimately, the journalist's quest is unsuccessful, though the audience does get to see the answer to the riddle in the final scene.

However, the opening scene, of Kane on his deathbed, makes it clear he is alone - there is no one to hear his whispered final word.

Indiana Jones has absolutely no effect on the plot of Raiders.  Nazis would get ark, get destroyed by ark, ark goes back to being hidden where no one will find it.

Well, except that he does save the girl and is responsible for placing the Ark in the custody of the US government. Presumably, had he not been there, the Nazis would have been the ones to recover it, seeing as they knew of it's existence and nobody else did.

Prince Hans effectively ascends to the throne of Arindell despite the fact that:

a ) Nobody checks to see if Crown Princess Anna is actually dead, and

b ) There is no one and no way to verify that they actually exchanged wedding vows before she 'died in [his] arms'.

In Man of Steel, Superman to get back at a trucker petulantly destroys his truck with telegraph poles taking out telephone communication for people who have not done harm to him.

He also takes a fight against Kryptonians into downtown Smallville endangering civilians which the real Superman would never do. This includes throwing one of the Krytonians into a working railyard which has trains going through it. Unlike in Superman 2 when Superman was consciously trying to save lives

The first film in the Purge franchise was a basic home invasion thriller, even though committing a home invasion on Purge night wouldn't really be such a hot idea. If you don't get my meaning, consider the following: you're breaking into someone's home on the one night of the year that the homeowner can do anything they want to you and not worry about whether or not it meets the legal definition of self-defense. Best case scenario, they kill you the instant they catch you in their house. Worst case scenario, the sky's the limit as to what nasty things they might do to you before they get around to finishing you off.

In Batman v. Superman the Man of Steel is blamed for a village being wiped out, while Luthor had the people killed with special bullets before he arrived.  The bullets are how Lois traced them to Luthor.  Why use special bullets at all?  It's not like Superman was known for using guns.

That plot actually came from the comics. It was Bruce Wayne that told Lois how to find out where they came from.

In Captain America: Civil War Hydra was able to infiltrate a good percentage of it's agents into SHIELD and took no action for 70 years!

Begging your pardon, Cassandra, but don't you mean Captain America: The Winter Soldier?

Got proof they were inactive? They were also infiltrating politics (Sen. Stern).

They were also fomenting chaos and discord, to the point where people would be willing to give up their freedom to attain order and security.  And darned if they didn't come close to achieving their goal.  If not for Captain America, the United States would have been Hydra Nation.

Course, the Nazis might not want it as much if soldiers keep disappearing around it, whenever it is attempted to be used.

Yeah, like with POTA mentioned above.   You pretty much have to ignore why apes on another planet would pick up English (of course, we also have to ignore why Earth apes are speaking 20th century English in the 40th century)

So the 20th century audience can understand them of course.

Hydra made me write Civil War.

And I think humanity didn't need Hydra to produce chaos.
