SENIOR CITIZENS WISH THEY WERE YOUNG

< July 3, 2009

Happy Fourth of July, Herophiles! (Or “Canada Day,” if you prefer a more northerly reason to celebrate. ;) )

We’re all back from Origins safe and sound. Overall, it was a great show. Attendance definitely seemed to be down, but the people who were there were willing to spend a little money. Our awesome Legion of Heroes corps of volunteer GMs did its usual stellar job; dozens of games were run, and nearly all of them were full. Interest in 6E and Champions Online was high. It was a great start to the convention season.

Among our top sellers at Origins was our latest Pulp Hero supplement, Thrilling Hero Adventures, with its way cool Sam Kennedy cover. If you haven’t gotten your copy yet, pick one up now!

But now we’re back to work! Fred is chugging through the 6E layouts as fast as he can (allowing for lack of sleep due to having a newborn in the house, natch ;) ). He sends me updates every day, and I have to say, they look Awesome. Not only is this the best version of the HERO rules ever, but visually this book’s gonna knock your socks off.

By the time you read this, I’ll have finished the Basic Rulebook, which will soon be in layout itself. Next up on my docket is the Advanced Player’s Guide. Some chunks of that are already written (either they’re from existing books and just need updating, or I had to whip ’em up while writing 6E), but it will still take me a couple of weeks to get it all finalized and ready for layout too. No rest for the wicked! ;)

Convention Calendar

It’s con season, so we thought we’d letcha know where we’re planning to be. ;)

DexCon (Morristown, NJ; July 8-13; http://www.dexposure.com/dexcon8.html): Darren’s a guest at this fine northeastern con; he’ll be selling books, running games, and using his amazing luchador skills to smash any zombies that show up.

SpoCon (Spokane, WA; July 31-August 2; http://www.spocon2009.com): Steve is a guest at this convention held on the campus of Gonzaga University (go Bulldogs!). He’ll be running games, holding his How To Write Elvish seminar, doing the talking head thing on panels and seminars, and hanging out with the fans. Who knows, he may even have a printout of 6E to give sneak peeks of. So if you’re a Hero fan in the Great Northwest, come to SpoCon and join the fun!

GenCon (Indianapolis, IN; August 13-16): The biggest convention of the year! We’ll be there as part of the Cryptic/Atari booth — and we’ll have the Sixth Edition in all its awesomeness! Walk, fly, run, crawl, teleport, but get there!

And that’s the week in review here at Hero Games. Come back in seven for the latest news, updates, and information. ;)
