HE’S A RESTLESS YOUNG ROMANTIC, WANTS TO RUN THE BIG MACHINE
< August 8, 2008
It’s triple-8 day, I see! A very lucky day according to Chinese superstition, if memory serves... hope it works out well for you. ;)
This was another relatively easy week. The printer got back to us with bluelines on The Atlantean Age, Monster Island, and The Book Of The Destroyer, so we still seem to be on track to have the books at GenCon next week (fingers crossed!). Andy’s been working on layouts for our Star Hero enemies book, Scourges Of The Galaxy, and already has his next assignment waiting for him: laying out Shades Of Black, which I finished updating/revising for hardcopy publication in short order.
After finishing with SoB, I spent the rest of the week on two chores. The first was getting everything ready for GenCon, particularly everything needed to run our in-booth Champions demos. Naturally I had a good bit of help from Andy on all the components, since I’m not the one to lay out character sheets and create paper minis. ;) Second, I’ve been working on the Kingdom creation and combat rules for The Ultimate Base, in the hopes of getting them into a sufficient state that I can distribute them to playtesters in the not-too-distant future. So far it’s coming along pretty well, though it seems like every issue I address raises two more questions I have to answer. ;)
Product Highlight: Hudson City
I’ve been thinking some about the sample campaigns I’ll have to create for the forthcoming Urban Fantasy Hero, and I expect I’ll set at least a couple of them in Hudson City. So I figured this was a good oportunity to plug one of my favorite books from the Hero catalogue:
Convention Calendar
Here’s Hero’s current confirmed schedule for the remainder of the summer convention season:
GenCon (August 14-17, Indianapolis, IN; http://www.gencon.com/2008/indy/): The biggest show of the year. We’ll be sharing a booth with Cryptic, running demos, selling books, and debuting a bunch o’ great new books!
Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) (August 29-31, Seattle, WA; http://www.pennyarcadeexpo.com/): One of the big annual events for computer gaming. Cryptic will be there in force, backed by Darren, Jason, Tina, and Andy.
Online Store Special
The Online Store is currently running another special! For a limited time, if you purchase $50 or more of books or other physical products from the Online Store, we will include a special item from the Hero Vaults, hand-picked by the Office Goddess herself, Tina. So act now before the vaults are emptied!
And that’s the week in review here at Hero Games. No update next week due to GenCon, so come back in fourteen for the latest news, updates, and information. ;)—Steve Long
