So I will be doing my interpretations from Omlevex, Gurps SuperThugs, Trouble with HAVOC, and Silver Age Sentinals. So first up Omlevex and their signature hero So changes I did: Upped the stats a bit, gave him more armour, speedster MA and more skills. Basically as described he's a Speedster with some gadgets. But as written his damage is pathetic and his movement is slow. These are his defining characteristics. I think now he makes a decent NPC. Certainly playable as a PC.

For 2024, I have resolved to build 26 new Champions characters - one for each letter of the alphabet. Since there are 52 weeks in the year, that works out to about one every two weeks. The challenges for me on this project are twofold: 1. I don't currently have a gaming group, so I'm basically working in a vacuum. 2. I have very little experience with 6th Edition. (I'm a Big Blue Book guy myself.) So there's a learning curve. So take a look at my creations. Helpful feedback is appreciated!

Here are a list of villains I have an idea for and like Professor Hyde I plan on eventually using the Heroes In A Hurry book to start the characters out Miss Innocent Apparently a young girl wearing lolita fashion, she has mnd control powers and specializes in getting people to physically give her what she wants. Winterblade A thief who steals a high-tech sword with an ice generator beam inside it. Loosely an homage to Captain Cold. This one definitely needs to be modified before I start writing it up Blackhead A brick who gained his strength and durability (and extreme acne) thanks to a rejected Professor Hyde drug. …

In 1959, DC introduced the Green Lantern Corps, a superpowered interstellar police agency. Later we learned they were successors to a robot police force known as the Manhunts and Marvel brought in first the Accuser Corps and then the Nova Corps. Of course DC's Green Lanterns owe a largely unacknowledged debt to Doc Smith's Lensmen who also provided inspiration for the Jedi Order. I know there's got to be a Champions universe pastiche of the Lanterns, so what is it and what's their equivalent of the rings?

The Rules: First one person posts an image that is or could be a superhuman. Then others submit a name, powers and basic background. This doesn't have to include Champions mechanics or be in the Champions universe. Once three submission are done or a week has passed then the person that posted the original image picks the best description. Then that poster can post an image or pass it on. Then the first person to post an image takes their turn. Hopefully this will be fun and provide some inspiration for NPCs if nothing else. First Image

The HERO System Fan Group on Facebook has a post asking for holiday-themed adventures, and I thought it would be fun to do something like that here. There were my suggestions, reposted from that group-- A legal casino (or alternately, a big-name department store) is offering a once in a lifetime prize--a Christmas tree made out of stacks of dollar bills totaling up to one million. Whoever holds the winning raffle ticket gets the tree (actually, a million-dollar check) but Lady Blue has other ideas. She intends to steal the million-dollar tree and distribute the money to various low-level charities around the campaign city. Will the heroes stop her, or will on…

Okay, we've all heard of the Power Limitation, "Does not work in electromagnetic fields," but has anyone really enforced it? EM fields are much more prevalent in a modern world than one might think. Mobile phones, power lines, computer screens, and anti-gravity generators are examples of equipment that generates electromagnetic fields. So, how would you enforce this limitation in a modern/near future/Sci-Fi campaign. Would you even allow it? What are some other fun ways to enforce Power Limitations?

So I have a character for a new campaign (I know, right? Exciting!) who has a 4d6 Aid to END. I know END counts as a defensive ability, so the total on the dice gets halved, which makes it 7 character points on average, which is 35 END. As an Aid, that can put the target above starting values, and 5 points if it fade in the post-12. But I have questions about how this works in practice. So let's say on starting Seg 12, I Aid myself +35 END. Immediately in the post-12 that fades to a mere +10 END. In my next phase, can I Aid myself again? Is repeating that possible until I reach the cap of (max that can be rolled on 4 dice, that is, 24 point…

The Champions are based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, not Millennium City, Michigan. The base is at the Hazelwood Green test track location and consists of three buildings. Game concept includes a mentor type hero who was an Atom / Hank Pym type. He gives the heroes each a Wardrobe sized cabinet that can be shrunk to fit on a key chain or made full size. It has a limitation that living things cannot be inside it. Basically it lets characters carry costumes or equipment and set up a base. I thought of all kinds of ideas (Base with Shrinking, Base with Extra-Dimensional). Basically it's a bag of holding. What is the fairest, most economical build?

Normal people have normal pets all over the world. However, supers tend not to have animal companions in any form. While Superman had Kripto, others were not as well known. Let's give every super their own pet. This pet can be any known animal granted special powers to match the super. Superman-Kripto is a great example.

Armor Piercing is a 1/4 advantage, while Penetrating is a 1/2 advantage. Why would Penetrating be considered better, and therefore more expensive, than Armor Piercing.

There's a lot of writing going on here on these boards of late, and I admit, it's been tempting. Too tempting. So terribly tempting that I lost the battle, and have given in. But that brings up another problem: Time. I don't have time to write like I had years ago, before the kids-- and _certainly_ not like the time I had before the wife. Honestly, if any single guys out here find themselves routinely bored or wondering what to do with the copious amounts of free time on your hands, get married. Boredom may still be problem, but it will be far less frequent. Free time, however, will disappear completely; you have my word. …

For Champions episodes, where and what have you drawn inspiration from to create episodes? It can come from the oddest places and spur of the moment. If you say 'comic books', specify which one(s). Likewise, if you say movies/tv shows, say which ones? I will attempt to list some of where I have drawn inspiration from for my own episodes, but it by no stretch of the imagination complete. Get ready because I'm sure you'll be surprised for some of them. In no particular order... By way of introduction, this idea came from the Storm Summoning powerset in City of Heroes, an old but beloved MMORPG some of you may be familiar with. The powerset has two powers which create "entities" that fight on their own--after creating them, the character can move on and do other things while these powers continue to attack bad guys. The net effect is a force multiplier, as the powers continue to fight while the player is free to act on their own, albeit with the upfront cost of having used actions and resources to start the powers. But it's also damned cool. 1) Lightning Storm: a cloud that hangs in the air for a while and throws out ta…

Have any of used a villain that is on the power scale that while they may be used in the background they are never actually written up as due to their power level the heroes will never be able to fight them directly?

It's weird. I've been GMing Champions for....30+ years. I just can't seem to get this one together. Here are the inspirations I'm playing with: Something like Brandon Sanderson's Steelheart, which is a bit like The Boys, but I'm leaning toward Steelheart as the inspiration.(Click on the link if you want a synopsis of Steelheart.) But also, themes of alien invasion. More like an infiltration, like They Live or Marvel's Secret Invasion. I just can't seem to come up with set pieces and plotlines that draw these ideas together. I also need escalating events and a nice "Season Finale" battle or scenario My world is…

While watching a certain annual holiday parade (default: Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade), one spots members of CLOWN marching down the parade route entertaing the watchers. Mery Andrew is on stilts, Ballon-A-Tick is floating on a balloon and tossing candy and non-magical balloons to the children, Fox is teleporting all over the place to shake children's hands (and get confused with the Car Fax fox), Tag gives out Nerf Balls, etc. They don't seem to be doing anything wrong, but.... What would your character do?

Hypothetical: NeoMephisto, a resident of another dimension that we shall hereafter refer to as "Inferno", enters into a written contract with a certain Enrico "Little Caesar" Banducci, citizen of Victory City, USA, wherein party A(NeoMephisto) provides certain goods and services to party B(Banducci) in exchange for 1)regular cash payments, 2) use of discreet "office facilities", and 3) occasional human services barter. In the event of the expiration of said contract term(after a period of 20 years or Party B's untimely demise) or a material breach, party B is required to pay, in consideration/damages, their "immortal soul". In the event of such a breach, what cour…

I'm curious if anyone has bought their hero Duplication. I've thought about creating a hero with the power but want to hear other's opinions first. I'd like to know how it played out because with Duplication, the GM potentially has to deal with 1 (or more) extra characters. As such, for myself at least as a GM, I'd have to think about that if one of the players bought it for their character. I know there are villains with the power and not interested in that aspect.

Last month I enjoyed the fall game convention (Nuke Con) and am slowing building up the desire to revitalize Champions and run it at the next major game event. The challenge remains, though, is to take something that's very rules heavy (Hero System) and make it easy enough for brand new players to pick up and be interested in like the rules light superhero game ICONS that I typically run, while still providing the details (e.g. "crunch") that existing Hero Systems players enjoy. I came up with what I call, "Simplified Sixth" where I combined powers, skills, talents, and perks under the generalized category of, "Skills & Attributes" (I got the idea from Sil…

I was playing around with a few ideas and was wondering how folks build a Power Armory akin to what Iron Man has. Would you use Multiform to represent the various armors?

Here's the situation: One of my players has a fun idea for a character, but it involves genres I'm really not up on. Specifically, the character's backstory is that when she was a lonely 13-year-old, she imagined a fairly elaborate fantasy world in which she was Princess Moonray, heroine of the magical Moon Kingdom -- sort of an unholy mash-up of Masters of the Universe and Sailor Moon. When she was grown up, she somehow managed to help a supernatural creature that rewarded her by granting the deepest wish of her heart. Not what she wanted right now, but what she had wanted most strongly in all her life: to be Princess Moonray. And so that's her Hero ID. …

When I first started making characters (by hand, this was even before Heromaker) I thought that you added up all the advantages on a power, then subtracted the limitations and the result was what applied. So if I had +2¾ and -1¼ of limitations, then the end result was a +1½ advantage. If it was +½ advantage and -1½ limitations, then it ended up a -1 limitation! I had a weird understanding of Multipower too, but I cannot remember how I did the math on that one. Anyone else have any stories of misunderstandings or confusion from their early days?
