I need help coming up with a name for a character I have had in my head all day. All suggestions appreciated. This character has been active for a few years as a gadgeteer/martial artist. Always considered (even by himself) as a second-string superhero. Recently, during his latest battle with Dr. Alchemus, he was accidentally injected with nano-tech performance enhancers. These have raised all his physical characteristics to slightly super-human levels (25-35 range for most). Now, he is finally first-string, and ready to take on the baddest of the bad. Personality: DC's Blue Beetle, but more serious than he's currently portrayed. Powers: Martial Arts, gadgets, su…

I have a water based character for review. Breif origin. Holly winters was an investigator for the EPA. She hound a company that dumps toxic waste into a local river. The bad news was the company has also found Holly. The managed to find and destroy her proof before she could infor her superiors. They also sealed her in one of their barrels and dumped her in the river. A year later AQUA was born. She needs 30 points in Disads, maybe a different group of skills and just some general reviews. Good news -- the FedEx guy just brought me a couple copies of VIPER! That means it's well on its way to distributors, if not there already. So, be on the lookout for it at your favorite game shop!

I'm working on converting a character I had used in 3rd Edition. He is similar to DC's Creeper (as originally written). He has a device implanted that allows him to change his clothes instantly. He is also a gadgeteer and can use this to allow him access to a new set of gadgets. So far, this is pretty easy to simulate in a couple of ways. The tricky part is that, as a thief, he also uses this ability to make things disappear . So, for instance, he might steal a bag of money, or a secret device, or a magical artifact, then transform to his other mode, and whatever he was carrying is gone. I had previously represented it as a VPP Gadget Pool, with the limitation that he cou…

Any chance of getting a Digital Hero article or webpage addition that gives the Superhuman Survey ratings for villains who weren't in CKC? I'm starting a game with two total newbies, and I'm considering an informal metagaming rule limiting Hunteds to Alpha and Beta class threats. (I may let the one veteran take the Delta-class VIPER, though since he's read the 4th edition book he may not want to see what 5th did .) It's pretty obvious that Mechanon is a higher level threat, but I'm not sure how to rank characters like Devastator or Tachyon.

Im thinking of starting up a campaign which includes an invasion (military). Timeline starts a few years into the future (5 years aproximately), around the chicago area. Point being, anyone played any invasion type of campaign before? Would be nice to know if there is anything I should keep in mind and look out for, or to avoid or to enforce.

Hi Guys, I am currently writing up Soloman Grundy for my Dc/Marvel character project and I have come across a couple of things I want some advice over. In many descriptions of him I have found he has some power to absorb energy and then release it in some way. Personally I have never seen him use these powers and they seem strange and out of place for him. But they keep cropping up again and again in info on the character. So my question is what are these powers and whats the best way to represent them? or are they powers just used in a one off story arc and not really a real part of the character? any help would be much appreciated. rgds D…

I rarely ask questions about rules or their interpretations as I’ll do things the way I want anyway but this is an interesting tactic I recently conceived. It may not be original but I’ve never seen it before. In a new off-shoot of my long running campaign, I’ve decided to play something totally out of character for me, a brick. Meanwhile, there is another player that has a character that controls gravity including that most interesting power found in the USPDB, Gravity Cancellation. From what I can see this power effectively makes the target weightless, right? My brick has come up with an idea. I know, I know, a stretch for a brick . . .but . . . what if Nat…

HDv2 is now beginning its public test phase! Here's the deal: If you have a full (purchased) copy of HDv1, you can upgrade it to v2. The upgraded version will be fully functional. The only limitation will be that you must be online whenever you start it up so that it can check its version against the test server. Anytime I change the version, you will need to pull down the new update before you can start up again. Beyond that, it will be a fully functioning copy of v2. If you do not have a full copy of HDv1, you can still try things out with the new demo version that is up there. The demo version is a bit limited in its abilities: you cannot open files, sav…

Some valid comments here Hugh. Thanks. I'll address them one at a time and am glad to get feedback, Yup. Any spells without limits listed get the standard skill roll plus side effects. The limitations permitted are RSR, Concentration (only used when it's a real limit), extra time (ditto), increased endurance cost, and limits unique to specific powers. House rule. Levels can't be applied to the skill roll that activates them. House rule again. Uncontrolled continuous powers that don't cost end last for one scene, or until deactivated by outside forces as per the book (a dispell in all cases, being hit in the case of the DCV l…

hello everyone, I've never used the hero system before, but it looks like it might be best suited for what I need. I was wanting to run a superhero campaign. I don't want anything TOO difficult to use since I'm not really a very experienced gm. how does this game rate on the confusion meter? I was looking at mutants and masterminds since I'm familiar with the d20 system, but it looks like that one's set up for min maxing. any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks Willis

Just thought I'd run this by you guys and see what your take is... this is for a low-powered superheroic game (about 200-250 points for PCs.)From the summoner's point of view, the advantage of these constructs is that they are hard to get rid of without the proper attack forms. The disadvantage is that they are SLOW and easy to evade. They also don't hit much except at point-blank range. So, they are strong on defense but weak on offense (unless the opponent does something foolish like trying to punch one...) Ball Lightning I (Automaton) Val Char Cost 0 0 0 1 3 0 0 0 0 0 …

The VIPER thread, and the rediscovery of a paragraph of mad scribblings on ideas for a campaign brought an idea I once had to the forefront of my mind. Okay, first things first. I don't get to have a FTF group 'cause are scarce round here... Although if this idea doesn't have PBeM opportunity I might just have to try new avenues. So, anyway... What do people think of this campaign premise: One day, the world changed. A massive alien ship enters the solar system, and lands itself in orbit directly over a certain small island nation... Before there's time for any significant action, an opaque forcefield dome completely cuts it off from the outside w…

The subject may be a bit inaccurate, but it's as close as I can come up with. The topic/question: Have any of you ever used any of the variety of real-life pop-culture icons against your PCs? In the old Strike Force (I think), there was a loopy villain called The Producer who created robotic versions of movie characters and sent them out to cause trouble. My own take on this was 'The Cartoonist', who had magic paintbrushes that could create anything he painted, and bring it to life ... thus, he drew cartoon characters and used them to bedevil people. Sometimes classic Looney Tunes, sometimes action cartoons. The crowning achievement for me, though, I think wo…

It is o45 am and I had some questions that would not leave my mind alone. I will post two here and hope it is enough. Will post other later. 1) How can one summon a fire? 2) Can an animate fire ability be a Summon slavishly loyal fire elemental or use Images to sight and touch? Hey. the pressure has lessened. I can go to sleep now.
