Hiya! I'm building my first...well, second battlesuit character, using Hero Designer. I have some questions on the subject -- not about the software, but about the theory of powersuit design. 1) What, exactly, is stopping me from building the whole thing as a single compound power? I mean, isn't that what is is, example power suit (Destroyer) in Champions notwithstanding? 2) What's the advantage of putting the weapons in a Multipower, besides, you know, the price break? 3) Relating to 1) above, how much sense does it make to put, say, Armor, Life Support, Flash Defense and maybe even Endurance Reserve together as a Compound Power? I'll be the fi…

I picked my copy of USPD on Friday. I have read a little, but so far I LOVE this product. This product was a long, long time coming. I plan on running a Champions game as soon as my group wraps up our DnD 3rd edition version of the old G-series modules. The USPD will make this transition easier because only 1 of the players has any familiarity with Champions and the Hero System. Thanks for such a wonderful product. Btw, is there errata for it? The Mist Control Power has a discrepancy with how much TK Str the power supplies. The "EFFECT" heading lists the Tk STR at 24. The game stats list an 8 TK STR. which is it?

Okay....I'd like to use the Mind, Inc plot idea from Champions Universe/Millennium City, but I'd like to change the name. Mind, Inc is far too obvious for my (deservedly) paranoid players. Any ideas for the name of a self help group that doesn't scream Mind Control. LOL Thanks, Rob

You can find it in the usual place, and the deadline for comments is June 19. Sorry I can't allow more time, but we got schedules to meet, dontcha know. Building a better Vampire, and YOU!! Ok so the whole vampire thing has accidentally made its way in to my campaign. I have been toying with different ways to build them for a few weeks now. So what I would like is your ideas. In other words build me a Vampire So this is the deal, there are 3 types of Vampire scum in my campaign. Masters Vampires (built on as many CP as you want), Normal Vampires (built on 350 CP), and Ghouls there worth less still mainly human followers (built on…..well cheap). I am looking mainly for like Normal Vampires. And I want what you think a Vampire should be, not necessarily what a Classic Vampire is. Not all Vampires can turn in to…

I've seen threads for posting Characters, threads for naming characters, and threads for drawing / rendering characters. Has there been a thread of stories *about* characters? Not character sheets, not about the time my growth-based Brick did something outrageous enough to make the GM snort Dr. Pepper out his nose (Though that might be a good thread too), but about the characters themselves. Origin stories, heroic death stories, good fight stories, and the like are what I had in mind.. Cyberknight "All that is needed for Evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

This has probably been posted before, but I couldn't locate it with a Forum search, so: More for my own edification than for game use, how DO you write up Wolverine's regeneration? Most specifically, I'm looking for the X-Men "movie regeneration" rather than that from the comic books. Let me lay out what I perceived as it's defining characteristics, so that anyone with a good idea might be able to model it. Logan regenerates rapidly, but not immediately, from his wounds. The bullet to the head takes some time to heal. Logan recovers from every individual injury quite rapidly. It doesn't appear that multiple "minor" injuries are as threatening as a …

Hey guys, This is NOT a Marvel vs DC vs Image thread. PLEASE Do not hijack this thread. My gaming group runs in an amalgam of Marvel and Champions universe. Over the years I have collected some stats on different characters, but its been a long time. Im trying to figure out what published guides there are for Marvel Characters and powers. There was the old Marvel TSR roleplaying game suppliments, of which I have a two of the 4 books. They then came out with 2 updates, a 1988 and a 1991 book. These are, obviously, twelve years out of date. *ARGH IM SO OLD*. Have there been any publications since then that list characters abilities and power levels? I …

I am currently making a campaign for my players, and was hoping to design a webpage for it. The game would be set in Millenium City and I was hoping that someone out there would have scanned images from the Millenium City sourcebook, so I could copy them and use them on the site. Also, if anyone else knows where I could find some great comicbook city images, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

A sword from hell? Ok I am working with a friend of mine on a sword. A huge 2 handed rune blade with the soul of a powerful demon lord forever trapped inside. But I think he is trying to go over board with the disadvantages on the blade. So I thought I would list it here for your input. First off the blade is -1 OAF (unbreakable). 1) Is the disadvantage -1/2 Two Handed Weapon meant for this kind of thing or only for (as I see it) duplicating real life (or close too) weapons; rifles, normal polearms, ect? 2) Side Effects: defined -1/2 half active points, ¼ less because you know what the effect will always be, X2 because if takes effect any time the weapon…

I have a new player who wants to do a Gambit style character, Some of it is simple, I am starting with an EB, with Explosion, Restainable (Some would say this is OIF, I prefer restrainable Potato vs Potato) Now is the hard part, he wants to be able to charge an item, then when the item is droped it explodes, the delay is a problem...and I am sure I am missing something obviouse

Just wanted to let everyone know that there's now a PDF of all those great plot seeds from Hermit's threas. I collected them and put them in alphabetical order and formatted it to look as much like standard Hero books as possible. I've also made sure all the contributors are listed under each plot seed. I'm pretty sure most of the authors don't mind this being put into PDF format, but if there are any that don't want to be in there, please let me know. Thanks to Hermit and all the others for all the excellent story ideas. I know I will get a lot of use out of this stuff. http://www.herogames.com/FreeStuff/freedocs.htm Have fun.

Defensor decided it was time to take his patrol on foot. His boot jets made a soft whirr sound as they depowered, and he landed on the concrete surface. The power armored hero's visor glowed on the dull gray helmet as he adjusted his sensors to incorporate the infared. No signs of his team mate, but a group of female citizens soon came upon him. They passed by, flirting and smiling at the hero, offering to help him, and making small talk. He thanked the ladies and felt a bit embarrassed when he discovered one lovely lady had slipped a piece of paper with her phone number under his shoulder guard. Fortunately, his helmet hid his blush along with the rest of his face. …

This is a character for a new player soon to join our group. I'm setting up my first full-blown supers campaign (I've run JI and FH for over a decade), and I'm wondering if anyone out there actually uses the "rule of x" that the new Champions book discusses in the margins of pages 131-133? If so, do you have any advice about it? What numbers are appropriate for a "standard superhero" campaign? What factors do you use?

My PCs are basicly setting up an ambush to screw up an operation of the NPG. Now, the MC suggests that your average NPG member uses the stats for the Street Thug in the CU. I ran a demo combat with my PCs against these stats a week ago, and they Tore Through my PCs. An OCV/DCV of 3, with a PD of 1 will not stand up to 4 350 point Dark Champions characters. I'm thinking of having around 6-8 NPG members here. What would be a good amount of points for each of these thugs? About how many points, on average, for their weaponry? I want something that is decent enough to scratch the toughest PC, while not enough of an overkill for splattering the weakest. Sugge…

In about 3 different pages of CKC, you can find gray boxes that include some other villains/characters that are briefly described. Pg 146: Al, Arachne, The Basilisk, Mantisman, Python, The Saurian, El Tiburon, Vesper, and White Rhino. Pg 158: Dr'zheem, Frostbite, Jaa'lu Darkmaw, Malachite, Shomak, Steelhand, Terala Shain, and Whirlwind. Pg 215: Backtrack, CheetahMan, Mandala, Skylark, Tagteam, and Zogoth PSI also had a little mention of back ups, but with the exception of Teke, they were handled in MC I think. For the official types out there- Do you know yet if any other books will be fleshing these guys out? For the rest of us- Anyone alre…

This is a character review thread: Background: (Work in progress): Kevin Johnson was a Security forces officer for the USAF in Korea, one day while ona routine patrol he took fire and was wonded, the rest of his squad died. He fainted from the loss of blood, when he awoke he found himself in a small hut, to week to walk, and being tended by an old Korean man. As the weeks went by he found his strength returning, soon he was as strong as ever, for that matter he found himself to be feeling better than he ever did before. He eventualy gave the old man (Who only would give the name of "Me") a fond farewell and went back to base. It was not long until he rea…

In Champion's Universe 5th Ed., we learn on page 73 of the "Shield of the People", a superhumanly strong personal bodyguard of Saddam Hussein. There is indication of an Iraq and Awad super soldier program collboration, that sort of thing. Obviously, a lot has happened in the short time since CU was written. While I shy away from the 'Real World' in my games normally, I can't help but consider exactly what might be happening or have happened in the Champion's Universe version of Iraq. I have recently started an 'officially sanctioned and government liescenced' campaign with my PCs, and they might be going around the world from time to time to protect U.S. interes…

I even did a search around to see if this had been answered, but... How expensive would it be to design a power that basically Transforms any Power (can't affect Characteristics, and presumably couldn't affect Inherent Powers any more than Drain/Suppress/Dispel would) into a Power with the -1 Limitation "Activation 11-"? Would it be a Minor or Major Transform? (Activation 8-, or Burnouts or Jams, would definitely be Major!) Basically, I'm thinking of a character who jinxes or puts the whammy on people. This power would probably have some limitation in the form of Requires Perception Roll or some kind of successful Detect, as things like Mental Powers or Inobviou…
