Here's the beginning of a story that I'm working on. The large doors of the Metropolitan Museum were thrown open with enough force to tear one of them off the wall. The crumpled body of Dr Helens was thrown out the entrance, and landed on one of the many patrol cars surrounding the museum, shattering the windshield and denting the hood. From the broken opening emerged the eight foot tall form of Erik Wagner, better known as Moose. He glared at the officers taking cover behind their cars and shouted, “If yous guys don’t get us da money soon, then his wife’ll be next!†His large, muscular form turned and walked back into the museum. “I had a clean shot …

Hi folks, I want a power to come on when a condition is fulfilled. Trigger doesn't work because it requires the power to be set up. I want the power to come on regardless of whether or not the character is conscious or otherwise able to activate it, regardless of how many times it is needed. As an example, let's look at a flight power. 10" Flight, at 0 end, persistent, only to hover, trigger (whenever falling more than 10") doesn't quite do what I want it to. It has to be set each time it is used and that isn't what I want. I considered the following: 10" Flight, at 0 end, persistent, only to hover, always on, only active if falling more than…

Okay...so Acroyear really got me going yesterday and I drew out an NPC team yesterday. These are the Argonauts. They were formed by billionaire Jason Argos on the Reality TV program "So You Want To Be A Hero". Left to right: Daedalus (Powered Armor Gadgeteer), Charon (Gate Teleporter), Athena (the former female All-American mentioned in CU, Team Leader/Trainer), Arachne (MA/Gadget User), Phaeton (Light Based EBer), Back Row: Talos (Warbot with limited AI). The idea is a team uniform with obvious Grecian elements created by a marketing department. Their emblem is supposed to be the prow of the Argo. So does this work?

Hey there, Been working on several things and would like some help. I'm building a variant of Cannonball from X-force, called Kamikaze.. I've got the stats worked out, and a good idea of the skills i want, but am having trouble defining the "powers" I've pulled several chamiions conversions from the net, but they all seem to be earlier versions than 5ed. I've got about 145-150 points to build Cannonball's flight/forcefield i've some idea's and could use some help putting this into a format that works... 20" flight <80 " ncm> - minimum of 10" moved - has to make a skill/power roll to turn -1/2 end -capable o…

DNPC twists 1 2
by Trebuchet- 28 replies

I was wondering if anyone had come up with unusual twists for their character's DNPC's. I don't mean "My DNPC maintains my Invincible Powered Armorâ„¢ for me!", but more personal stuff. As an example, my character Zl'f lives with a foster family of four that she's taken collectively as DNPCs. In this family there is a boy a few years younger than she is who has developed a serious crush on her. Naturally she tries to hide her superheroic identity from him and his parents (The girl in the family is her best friend and so knows already.), but the kid already knows because he spends so much time spying on her (including a peephole into the girls' room.). So she's hiding…

AWESOME Custom Minis 1 2 3

OK, everyone run over to this guys site to look at his custom suPEhero miniatures. He does an excellent jub of converting HeroClix figures into complete custom characters. He chops and combines, resculpts, repaints these things into pure works of superhero art. The link to his site... http://www.quindia.com/archetype.html But best of all, he has posted a tutorial for his technique on the M&M boards so that we can all give it a try. http://www.greenronin.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2045 It's very cool. I'm going to give it a try soon as I have an excess of HeroClix doubles sitting around. May try to make a Grong mini by combining two Hulk clix. Wis…

Actually, it's more along the lines of "life imitates anime" category, but here's something amusing if the characters ever go to Tokyo: http://www.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/getarticle.pl5?fl20030301a1.htm Or at the very least it's a lot easier to justify "understructures" to a given campaign city.

I run a game with a fairly low-powered crowd of supers (With experience they're just starting to reach the 250 mark). And for this crowd I'm thinking of throwing them into a time travel story. What I'm wondering is, what makes a good time travel story? Anyone got any anecdotes or ideas they wish to share?

Here's a challenge for you... Create the greatest superhero game soundtrack of all time! (Just wanted my 50th post to be a new thread! Yeah! I'm no longer standard, I think.)

Okay, in the MEGS mailing list, has been debating this, do you think America is the only country in the world where the super powered champions dress in skin tight, colorful, costumes? Would a Spanish hero dress in red spandex with a gold cape? How bout Germany, Great Brittian, France, Russia, Japan, China...Anyone wanna weigh in here?

We've all had concept clones in our group, be it a spider-man rip off, a supes look alike, what have you. Nothing wrong with that Thor, I'm sure, is no exception. So, who's allowed a "God among heroes" concept in their games? Or played one? What points were used, etc? And which gods did you try? I have a high level JLA type NPC group in my Champs universe, one of whom is Gwydion, of the Welsh fame. The fact that Gwydions legendary home was the mikly way makes the floating satilite base that much more amusing. Gwydion is not a brick type at all, rather I went with the 'master magician' 'trickster' 'Shapeshifter' and "Lord of Fantasy" bit... which makes him mos…

A long time player in our group started playing a female blaster a while ago, and our GM was surprised that he’d only given her 12 COM. It wasn’t a command to spend more points or a criticism of how the character had been built, but it got me thinking. I could see why the GM raised an eyebrow – in comics just about all the heroines and villainesses are eye-candy. But is it like that in Champions? Our group gets by with BBB and FRED alone (well, Ultimate Marital Artist is in the post), so we really don’t know anything about the lasses who save the day, or the vixens making bids for world domination. Which supers grace the covers of GQ/FHM/LOADED? (Hell…

I've been looking at the new "other system supers" supplements that I am converting over to HERO system for my Champs game, and I dug out a bunch of my older stuff, and forgot how good GURPS supertemps was- I love so many of the characters in it.... So I was wondering what is other good supers material ripe for theft is there out there- I have what I want from the DC heroes and marvel games, and most of the V&V stuff, and the couple of dual statted superworld games. For the wiseacres who tell me to buy old HERO stuff, I have everything already. I just want MORE!!!! I'm mostly interested in other Gurps supers stuff (I don't even know how many supplements they…

I played Champions as a teen for about 4 years using the original rules. Time travel 15 years forward and meet a retired superhero who longs to make the headlines once more. (I once beat down the Hulk for goodness sake. How soon they forget....) Do I need the 5th Ed. rules? Can I just get the Champions rules? I found the BBB on E-Bay and picked it up a few months efore 5th Ed. came out. Should I stick with that? And finally (ominous organ sound...) I have to ask: Is Champions / Hero the best system to address a somewhat serisous yet light and enjoyable superhero campaign? I'd like to benefit from the experience of seasoned gamers instead of reinventing the…

Every time I come to these boards Hermit's got some assanine new thread asking some irrelevant question about superheroes or how you do or don't run your games. It must be stopped! "What color underwear do you where on the outside of YOUR tights?" "Which two male superheroes would you most like to see wrestling, covered with Wesson oil?" "If a copy of FRED fell in the woods, and nobody was there to hear it, would it still be the world's great role-playing system?" "Which cast member of Different Strokes have YOU used as a master villain?" "If you could make out with any member of the Champions, from any era, how would you rewrite their background? And would …

I was thinking about writing up the Entropite (entropy demon) Trevor who is the protagonist in my short story "The Deal." The tricky part is how to build his powers. To give you an idea what I'm talking about, here's some passages from the story where he uses his powers or discribes other abilities he has: Ideas? Comments?

I've seen several references to this and I was wondering what it is. I take it is an acronym for a supplement of some kind. Cheers.

Not everyone from previous Champions/Hero Games books made it in the transfer to the 5th Edition statistics. However, a lot of them still breathe in campaigns, mine being one of them. Some have even gotten a personal upgrade to 5th rules. Whether hero or villain, what are yours? Although I only used the Champions hero group once, I didn't think they were too bad, just mediocre. Hardly exhaustive but some of mine I still use are: Terror, Inc. (still intact in my game) Bora (still alive and still in Eurostar) Pantera (ditto) Cobra/King Cobra Vibron as Vibron 3rd/4th Edition Ruler of Crime (seriously upgraded and head of L.A. mob. Gotta love a 'nor…

I started a new Champions campaign tonight, with all but one player a pretty much newbie to the Hero System. One of the new players designed a cybernetic martial artist, a decent character, other than too much SPD and too low DEF and Stun. The character main problem was that he took Hunted by Mechanon and Warlord . He even came up a decent reason for the hunted, but I was a nice GM and did not roll them and suggested he spend the points differently. Mike

This is just one of those conversation starter questions that pop into my head every once in a while... How many people tend to use Real lIfe current events in their games? Terrorist bombings, War in the middle-east, etc. The question ocurred to me in a local hobby store where they had a line of miniatures of "modern commandos" that not only included contemporary marines and other armed forces miniatures, but also miniatures with titles like "Al Queda Command" (Which had a distinctly Bin Ladn figure). How often does real life invade your games?

OK, time to build the ultimate Weapon of Mass Destruction. Design a bomb that destroys everything in a 1/4 mile radius, and extending out to a five mile radius... Puts suger in your gas tank Kicks your dog Dates your teenage daughter Leaves an empty toilet paper roll in place Throws your newspaper in a puddle and hides your remote controls. Mightybec
