We are going to be starting a new Champions game (Hero 5e) soon, and I thought it might be fun to play a character that has a legacy type background, possibly one where mutant powers run in the family. My character Crystal Shield, will be a relatively young (20s) brick who can change into a crystal form (smokey quartz). She tends to be a bit of showoff (overconfident and showoff flaws, PS: model and PS: social media influencer), but her heart is in the right place. She has a public id. I spent quite a few points buying her family as a contact: 21 points, Powerful Family (11- (2), Extremely Useful (3), Good Relationship (2), Organizational Contact (x3) and …

One of the questions I am grappling with in the new champions game I am creating is that I want to really reduce the the origins for power sources quite considerably to make them be a little more realistic and logical rather than a total free for all. For example looking at many of the older villains for champs I have lost count on how many are experiments gone wrong, with yet another set of scientists on yet another secret project! Instead of each power armor character being a totally new project maybe their have been only half a dozen of these in history that all such designs flow from? maybe one super solider program that has been adapted and…

Here's a picture (borrowed from Cygnia via NGD): The challenge: Describe a Champions adventure based on the picture. Be as succinct or as loquacious as you please. And maybe after five or six suggestions, we can post a new picture and do the same from there. Go!

I am going to use this thread to detail my upcoming hopefully long term superhero campaign using Hero 5th edition. The only rule so far is that I am only going to use NPC's that have previously been published in the huge amount of super rpg's I have. One of the fun things I am going to try to do is create a huge world of supers and try to mix them all together, changing, eliminating and using various characters, groups, events, etc from the all the games and settings I have. I will be using the next few postings for timelines, groups, organisations, places, lists of characters and will come back to edit and add to them as time goes on. I will be using the Ch…

Hello all, old timer from early 90's just getting back into the game again. I was looking at an old character sheet and had a power called "Vertigo" on it. I believe it may have come from one of the old Hero System fanzines we had back then. Still trying to figure out my notes, but after 20+ years, not a lot to go on. If any old timers still around, here is what I have on the power, but sadly no specifics. Vertigo 1X -1 DCV - 1OCV 2X -3 DCV -3 OCV 3X No Ranged Attacks Can Be Made, All Actions Require a Dex Roll -5 DCV -5 OCV 4X On Floor Immobile Vomiting 0 OCV 0 DCV Does anyone out there remember this power? It's been a lo…

The Blood Red King. A evil blob of blood with a human skull and crown. The great undead king from Faerie, he is a rival of the Shadow Queen, and like her can never truly be destroyed (as Faerie will recreate him, or pass the mantle of Blood Red King to another similar undead being). Considering what he is, these powers are likely. Desolification (turn his body from semi-solid blood to liquid blood and back). Extra Limbs. Streching. Variable Power Pool (Necromantric Magic). What other powers could he have? Remember, he should be as powerful as The Shadow Queen's dragon form. And probably can have the ability to cross dimensions …

So what is this all about ? Starting on the 1st of the month and ending on the last day of said month to construct a villain for use in Champions or Dark Champions play. Said villain might well be finished before the end of the month in which case another maybe started but that would depend on how close to the end of the month we are. A new villain will always be started on the 1st of the month or as close to that as possible (but not beforehand). The goal will be at least 12 villains but there might be more. Said villains will not be the masterminds or the 'it takes the combined JLA,LSH, X-Men and Avengers to take down' except for speci…

I am about to play a Lucha Libre adventure, as Master, and when we finish it I would like to make it available for everyone to play. So, the question is, may I post a link to the document in this forum? (It will be written in Spanish and translated to English in the same doc, with 4 Player Characters write-ups ready to start)

I wondered which origin types are particularly popular for the Champions Universe, and what types of Powers go with them the most. Why? Because 1) It might point to character concepts that are cool but have been neglected; and 2) I’m a deranged nerd. So this has been my spare-time project for the last week. The whole CU is very large, but not all of it is equally propmoted. So I’m restricting the domain of analysis to the three volumes of Champions Villains. 292 characters total, not counting “agent” types such as Doctor Destroyer’s robots or Necrull’s Necrullticians. Individual characters only! Here are the catego…

Recently, we did the 40th anniversary episode for the campaign. More recently, the 100th episode for one of our newest supergroups. However, this past Saturday, we did the 600th episode for our earliest, and continually running, supergroup. It featured every hero of that group for the past 40 years, against Dr. Destroyer. Total supers, including cameos of which there were plenty, came out to 18 superheroes. Woo! It was a rousing success, complete with a 3 minute video I created (which came out to be the 250th video created for our Champions campaign), and an actual map of Paris the players used to save the city.

I saw in one of the old Champions books an order form listing the then-current and upcoming releases, and it listed a Danger International limited boxed set. Did this really exist? If so, what were the contents?

How would I go about making a character has the powers of Armor (Hisako Ichiki)? I thought that Psimon is somewhat like her. I really like Psimon's Psi-giant. What can do to make the character more original? Here is what I thought the character would have starting out. Cost Powers 20 Strong Mind: Mental Defense (20 points total) 58 Psionic Armor Energy: Endurance Reserve (175 END, 20 REC) (58 Active Points) 40 Psionic Exoskeleton-Armor: Resistant Protection (20 PD/20 ED) (60 Active Points); Unified Power (Psionic Exoskeleton-Armor; -¼), Costs Endurance (Only Costs END to Activate; -¼) 6 …

My lockdown proposal to myself was that I would use HERO to create a game. I wanted to do a powered by HERO type thing that I could share with friends and possibly, if it was good enough, offer here. My God, it was hard. It was hard to sit down and really put the necessary thought into it. It was hard to do writing. It was hard to balance things up. It was hard to decide how much of the system to cover up and how much flex to leave in there. It was so hard, I am starting again for the fourth time. All that effort will inform this next one but it has shown me something. It has shown that I need to hide virtual…

So, I had previously created a supervillain team called Apex, who believed in the inherent superiority of superpowered individuals over non-powered people. Along the way, I found a mini identified as Ape-X, and decided that he had heard about Apex and figured that he was the natural one to lead them. He and Apex's original leader (Alpha) fought to a standstill, so they became co-leaders of the team. I included Ape-X in the team mostly as a joke, with half of Apex still following Alpha but some members thinking Ape-X has some good ideas. He's a brick / blaster self-taught scientific genius type. He has a backpack unit (not visible in the pic) …

I'm something of a dry spell creatively-speaking. I've got an episode (using a battlemap) where a supervillain team just saw someone's powers occur, and want to try recruiting this new super. Fortunately, the hero team will be nearby to stop the villains from trying to recruit. The problem is: where will the fight take place? Already been done in factories, parks, fastfood restaurant. Looking for a fresh place for a battle. Suggestions?

I was just looking at ild material and as most probably know, UNTIL was the original agency that dealt with Superheroes. So I’m thinking what would change if anything in a typical Champions game if there was no PRIMUS, only UNTIL.

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2022/11/05/us/nebraska-midwest-meat-heist-arrest-trnd/index.html If you can’t turn this into an adventure seed, then you're clearly not GMing hard enough. Just think of some of the reasons somebody would need multiple truckloads of stolen meat.

I found an old paper while cleaning my room that has a list of ideas for Champions campaigns of various types and power levels.I figured I would post them here to offer some inspiration for GMs looking to start up a campaign: Part of a government or state official super team collected to fight crime and terrorism Each character is a child of an extradimensional being who has sown his oats widely - characters probably don't even know they were related. Dying alien distributes part of their power amongst all people gathered nearby to help fight his evil family. Low powered game, possibly no other super types in the world Characters all awaken…

Hello All, Hopefully in the near future I’ll he running a scenario for some friends and their kids. My friends have some experience. Its been a long time and we’re going to play 4th cause that is what they are most familiar with. I have both Viper Nest in pamphlet form (which I think is 1st ed) and also 3rd which is in the 3rd ed rules book. If any one has used it is there anything I should watch out for? Right now I’m looking at Viper Blasters themselves. 1st ed they’re only 5D6 EB AF, 3rd they’re 2D6 RKA AF and 4th 8D6 EB AF. The other stats are basically the same. I want Viper to be a minor threat. Oh and I’m GMing this blind as my buggy wants them to have…

Just a thought that struck me. Out of the CU’s cast of villainy, who would be best to use on holiday-themed teams? I’m mainly thinking Halloween and Christmas.
