So I have designed a character in Hero Designer, Superhero Genre and ran into this weird issue I have never seen before. I picked these two particular skills: Streetwise and Shadowing and bumped them up one level. I.E. 20 INT gives the 2 skills a base target number of 13-, bumping them up one should give them a target number of 14- But after clicking OK, the Skill is now highlighted in blue and the target number shows 13-. No matter how many points I put in, it never increases (on the character sheet) past 13- but when you open the skill to modify it, it shows the target number you picked (It shows 14- when I open the skill to modify it). How to add a Modifier to a Characteristic in Hero Designer? I have recently purchased Hero Designer. I am trying to apply the Resistant advantage to normal PD and ED. There is no obvious way to do it from the Characteristics tab and I have tried from the Powers tab > Characteristics, but the numbers are not coming out right. I also want the resistant amount to reflect on the Characteristics tab. For example, display as 40 PD (40 rPD). The same for ED. Help. Thanks in advance! DamienCurr

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I can't see a spot on the exported character sheet (default one) for total KG of carrier gear. This is pretty important for a FH campaign where encumbrance substantially effects DCV, Movement and END sue. Also, STR min limitation on weapons (HKAs) leads to pretty inconsistent output. Is that because they're defined as ranges or... ? I'll finish with - I love HD and it has made creating a host of characters, campaign rules and items very easy.

Is there any documentation on the web, or anywhere on how to create HERO Designer Export Templates, or should I just pick apart an existing template to see all the possible inputs into the templates?

I accidentally made an edit to the display text of a HUGE compound power. I read through it a couple times but can't seem to find the edit (but it's blue). Is there a way to refresh the description back to the default? I would really rather not have to recreate it, if I can avoid it.

I'm using build 20190104, standard 6th Edition rules. I buy Leaping and add the Advantage "No Gravity Penalty" to it. Despite having this Advantage, it is still calculating upward movement as half the full movement rate instead of it being the same as horizontal movement as explained on page 158 of Volume 1.

I'm using build 20190104, standard Hero System 6th Edition rules. I buy two levels of Enhanced Perception (Touch Group) and then buy two Detects: one using Hearing Group and another using no Sense Group. The Enhanced Perception is adding its bonuses to both Detects, and I'm not sure why it would be adding bonuses to Sense Groups other than the one I set it for. If I change the Enhanced Perception to affect Sight Group instead or even just Normal Sight, it still adds to the two Detects.

I'm trying to print the attached character file to PDF. I've read the manual and I seem to be doing everything correctly (I think), but I'm getting the following error message: "Error printing to PDF. An error occurred during print process. Please try again. Error message: private method 'gsub' called for nil:NilClass" My Hero Designer is installed in C:HeroDesigner Seeker.hdc

So I got my CCCC decks in the mail today, and I was able to track down what I believe are the required files in the dropbox from the Kickstarter, but I honestly have no idea how to import the card numbers into HD to generate a character. Are there any instructions available on how to do this? I tried starting a new character and loading the files as prefabs, but it doesn't actually add anything to the character, and it also doesn't feel as straightforward as the description with the cards of just uploading numbers into HD. Plus the Characteristic cards don't actually have files in the Prefab format, just the .hdc files. I feel like I'm missing a lot in terms of this integ…

I wonder if anyone here has tried to build an object (walls, floors, computer banks, bank vaults, etc) as a character in HD? I understand that walls would be difficult since you would need to make a separate record for each location but it would be an interesting experiment. You could then include the elements of the environment into a Combat Record and have that available as a target in the Combat Manager. Since an object wouldn't have a SPD, it wouldn't come up in the combat order. All you would need to add is PD and ED with any applicable rDef or Power Defense. Polymorph Self: Caster is capable of changing their form to another creature (temporarily). All spells naturally cost some END (mana). There are no free rides for spell casters. So I build a Multiform (up to 400pts) with all the normal stuff (Extra Time, Concentration, Requires Roll etc). Now the spell will only last for 3 hours + 30 minutes/success. So I want to add Time Limit, like all the other spells I go to add Costs END Only to Activate. But it's Multiform so it doesn't have that. Howdy ho, Simon! So, I'm building Prefabs for the AD&D (1st Edition) spells. I've got separate Prefabs for Clerics, Druid, and Magic-Users. There is quite a bit of overlap (the Magic-User Detect Magic spell is almost the same as the Druid Detect Magic Spell which is almost the same as the Cleric Detect Magic spell) so I am kind of flipping between the different Prefabs and copying stuff from one to the other. The Cleric prefab sucks up about 42MB out of the 64MB recommended (it's got about 100 spells in it, same as the druid, but the magic-users have about 200 spells and I'm worried about down the road especially). So I'm running a few games at GenCon in 2019. I'm basing all my games off a sense of nostalgia. I'm converting a bunch of different games into Hero. My first game is going to be a Gary Gygax AD&D module. I'm not sure yet, but one/two of the GDQ series (Against the Giants, the Drow, and Queen of the Demonweb Pits). Before you roll your eyes hard enough to sprain something, I know I am being ridiculous. HOWEVER, doing all these conversions it would be nice if there was a way to sort modifiers (probably alphabetically) so all the Advantages would appear in alphabetical order and then the Limitations. I'm finding that I don't always choose the common modifiers in the same order so sometimes I have Gestures listed first and sometimes it is Incantations. I can go through each one and remove them all and rebuild the powers paying attention to the order I select them, but that's a pain in the butt. Porting some AD&D to Hero for GenCon. Converting some spells and I'm running into this problem. I've got a Damage Negation (for instance) in a compound power for "Protection from Evil" that normally doesn't cost Endurance. So I add Cost Endurance to Activate, which allows me to take Time Limit (for Duration effects). I'm trying to keep the spells at a reasonable mana pool cost (out of an END Reserve), I like the 2 - 3 price point. But the power is now up at 7 END or so. So I try to change the "Costs Endurance to Activate" to "Costs Half Endurance" but now it's a constant power and Time Limit requires 0 END or Only to Activate. Damage Negation (-4 DCs P…

I'm trying to do a brick shockwave Power in HD, for a character with 65 STR. I used Characteristics: STR and checked the box for Adding Modifiers to Base Characteristic. I then added Modifiers for AoE (28m Explosion) for +1/2, and Hole in the Middle for +1/4. This came to 49 Active Points, 49 Real Cost. No problem there. However, when I added Extra Time (Full Phase) for -1/2, it went to 11 Real Cost, when I expected it to go to 33 Real Cost. And when I added Limited (only vs. targets on the ground) for -1/4, it went to 0 Real Cost. What am I doing wrong here?

Another probably stupid question, when I print to PDF from Hero Designer it automatically takes me to the PDF and it seems fine. But when I search for the PDF on my computer to mail it to players, I cannot see it or even the Directory/Folder it was in that I can plainly see when im in Hero Designer? Whats going on? is it something basic I am not doing? why does it disappear? rgds Dean

So I'm playing around with a Desolid notion. 20 STR Desolid 0 END Now, pay for the kicker...as a power, buy Affects Phys World on the 20 STR. 40 points, shows as 4 END on the Powers section, and the STR cost is listed as 6 in the Characteristics tab. Painful but it is 40 active points. Now, tho...add 1/2 END to this. END cost on the Powers tab goes to blank; END cost on the Characteristics tab goes to 1. This is weird.

I'm new to the site, so I apologize in advance if this is posted in the wrong place. That being said, if somebody could help me figure out how to make a disintegration power, I'd really appreciate it. To clarify, my character can create steel (steel barriers, shooting steel shards, etc.). I'd like him to also be able to disintegrate steel, but I'm having a hard time finding something specific enough. Thanks in advance.

Hopefully soon I will be getting a new computer and moving all my files to it. I'm using two versions of Hero Designer HERO Designer log file (build 2009012604) HERO Designer 6 log file (build 20110203) and I need to know which version of Java I should install so that both versions work. Also, do these programs work in the current version of Java so I don't have to install older editions with their security issues? Thanks in advance!

Question for all you Heros out there! Years ago i picked up the hero Designer V3. After marriage and kids I am returning to the game. When i picked up V3 there were add ons you could buy that gave you..basically Star hero, fantasy hero, combat book..etc etc. All were for the 5th editiion at the time...I picked up the new one and all that's available is the base program... how can i get those old templates and great stuff they used to have THANK YOU IN ADVANCE MY FELLOW HEROS!!!
