Can some one provide me with a list of all the major Hero Designer file extensions used within the program and what they are for? For example .hdc are character file .hdp are prefabs etc. Thanks

I can't find any options to enable scaling for the application which means in my case the app is painfully small unless I manually drop my resolution down to 1080p or less. Is their a way to enable scaling on a windows 10 PC?

Hi all, I bought my version of Hero Designer back in 2017 it is version 6, but since then have there been any updates or reason to buy it again. I have been away for a little while health reasons and am just getting back into Hero and if it is worth updating I will do so. For example I saw one of the programmers talking about adding I think it was Divination, but it may have been something else. Look forward to hearing from youi. Regards, Larry

I purchased a Windows 11 machine last month. I tried running HD6 on it and, even after getting Java 8 (update 311), it will not launch. Any advice?

I'm playing around at the moment for the most part with some things. Here is what I have so far for APG1 and Ultimate Skill. You will probably want to go in and edit a few things before you plug them into Hero Designer. 20220417_UltimateSkills.hdt 20220417_APG.hdt

I Like 6E HTM: Tasha's Ultimate Character Sheet as it works very nicely for Characters. But Bases and Vehiles not have Martial Arts and stuff so was wondering what a good template to download for everything else. Suggestions?

Team: I have had my Hero Designer install run w/o issue on Ubuntu 18.04, with Java 8 default install. When I upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04, HD stopped working altogether. Looking into it, the default-jre was set to the current 11.x, so I changed it back to Java 8 (1.8.0.xxxx), which is the correct version. After setting the executable bit--got changed for some reason to not an executable--and with the default to Java 8, I now get the startup splashscreen; however, it gets stuck on "Loading Plugins"...I wanted to troubleshoot this further, and logging from the system or HD app would help. I will check dependencies for Java 8, but does anyone have the actual locat…

Hi All, I wonder if there is an export format for skill type? That is, intellect, agility, combat, etc? I can't seem to find what I need from the docs or available HDE files. But perhaps I'm just missing it? Thank you, ViG

So I am creating a flying brick in Hero Designer. I've got Characteristics and Skills pretty much squared away, but am hitting a wall in regards to powers. Now, the power that I'm wanting to recreate in Hero Designer is listed as follows on Page 252 of Champions 6th Edition: 25 Super Tough Body: Resistant (+1/2) for 25 PD/25 ED Now, both of my flying brick's regular defenses come out to 28 PD/28 ED, and I'm wanting to convert 25 of those points to resistant defense without adding extra to the normal PD and ED. The main problem I'm facing is that Characteristics as Powers (which is what this would be defined as) only seem to allow one …

So I'm designing a character that could be used as a get away driver. So I did give her combat piloting which says that you can have one free familiarity of any vehicles that moves in three dimensions. But when I'm putting in her TF skills in HD it doesn't take that into account so how should I address this to keep track on how many points I have spend on character skills?

I'm a new Hero Game player that is trying to learn the system. Today I did bought the HERO Designer software to help share character files with my GM. But as I suspected I have issues trying to launch the software. Because when I double click the HD6.jar file to launch the software it just say how I want to open the file. IDK which option I should choose? Keep in my mind I'm pretty sure that I don't have java installed on this computer because I have never been bothered to installed it since I did built my current desktop. I was building a summon with Fewer Tasks in Hero Designer (due to special effect of character I am writing up) and not see it available in limitations. Did i miss something? Work around was to add a custom modifier called Fewer Tasks.

Using build 20210804, created the following power. Deflection, Constant (+1/2), Uncontrolled (+1/2) (40 Active Points); Costs END To Maintain (Half END Cost; -1/4) The program is reporting that this costs 4 END instead of 2.

For those who may not be aware, Hero Designer does come with the documentation as HDDocs.pdf in the install directory. 64 pages of information on not just using the basics of the program but how to do some basic alteration and making export templates. I'm not sure if this is updated, but there is also a copy of the Docs in the files section on here. Also a while back I made a quick and dirty cheatsheet (need to update it). The upper left has page #s for the Manual on the different file types.

The may need to be in source. Is there a way to do exclusive Ifs of if..else with tags? I tried the below and it blew up if_image => image if_no_image => if_notes => notes1....etc. The idea was If (image) { image code } else { Notes code (in the same space the image would be) }

I'm curious how people have their setups for HD. USB stick? HrdDrive? Keep your files in one big directory or sort them out? Any special way you name them? I'm running mine on USB, sorted directories and named with date at the end (IronAvenger20211220), with save as and new date when I update the file. Allows me to keep track of where players are spending points or I can introduce past versions.

What are the widths, etc for Hero books? 2 columns normally, some with notes in the side margins... Either as #s or %..since it's HD say a 8.5/11 page. I believe I've found a solution for print to pdf and want to play with real values ... Width of column, text sizes and so on.

New developer for templates. Learning from fiddling templates, but there is one thing I am not able to work out, even with HDDocs or my research. Creating a compound power, each component can have a name. Example: Sun Run Gun: <description> <text> Stun Ray: 2d6 NND Kill Blast: 3d6 RKA In 6E HTML Tasha's Ultimate Character Sheet v1.6.0 Serif n Blue Export Template. There is a summary of powers and equipment. Which I think is really good. And with compound powers you have a quick summary of what components make the power. These components can have a name.
