Many of us here are sports fans...or were, until the quarantines went into effect. So in the absence of sporting events to watch, what sports movies might we watch instead? This weekend was supposed to have been opening day for Major League Baseball. Let's start with some baseball movies.

Okay, that went pretty well. You have to know first that at least one of our gaming group is resistant to virtual gaming, which is what made it interesting when we went online a few days ago to test ZOOM as a viable gaming platform and he wound up sending us an email the next day asking if we want to game online. We tried a number of platforms but found a lot of them were too complex. We just wanted to see and hear each other, and potentially to see a map or whiteboard. So I bought one license to Zoom, set up the meeting, everyone else joined, and we did 4.5 hours today. The game was not Champions. It's actually the game GODBOUND, wh…

Recently I got talking about wars of the past (especially WWII). We also mentioned what WWIII might be like. At first I thought that such a war would be highly electronic-based, but still fought between different governments. However, thinking further about this I was wondering about everything. What is everyone's take when dealing with this next war? Who will be involved? What will the weapons involved be? Anything else that anyone would like to mention?

Grab your Scholastic order forms, kids! It's time for the Reading Rainbow Superdraft! Every draft gets a lot of characters from movies, television, and comics. It's time for a book based draft! All your characters for this draft must have first come from a book. If a character has been in movies, but was a book first (Huckleberry Finn), that is acceptable. If the character was in a movie, tv show, or comic first, that is not okay. I will allow characters that started in oral tradition (Robin Hood), that is acceptable. Poetry will be allowed. Plays and radio shows will not. We will begin Monday March 2. We will not draft on…

If you could be any fictional, mythological, or supernatural being what would you want to be? My favorite of the four elements is water so I would want to be a water elemental. As a water elemental I would want to look like the water elemental in the picture below.

Kenny Rogers, Grammy-winning singer and acting star, dies at 81 Growing up listening to country music in the late 70s and early 80s, he was ubiquitous. What a voice. Rest in peace.

Lyrics by Dana Jay Bein on Twitter. https://twitter.com/danajaybein/status/1240307541491494912 Is this a sore throat? Is this just allergies? Caught in a lockdown No escape from reality. Don’t touch your eyes Just hand sanitize quicklyyyyy I’m just a poor boy, no job security Because of easy spread, even though washed your hands, laying low I look out the window, the curve doesn’t look flatter to me, to me mama, just killed a man i didn’t stay inside in bed I walked by him, now he’s dead mama, life was so much fun but now I’ve caught this unforgiving plague mama, oooooh didn’t mean to make them…

Earlier every year! Storylines for the new season: Could the Browns' arrow actually be pointing upward? Could the Raiders' arrow be pointing anywhere other than straight down? What is the point of NFL games while the Patriots exist? How can the NFL make rules for tackling and receiving any more incomprehensible? Will broadcasters finally abandon all pretense of restraint and just use the entire field as a green screen to play commercials during the game? When will autoduelling finally replace the NFL?

So, which progressive rock albums would you consider essential? I'd like to solicit nominations, one or two at a time, and then conduct a poll or three to narrow the list down to 10 or 15 total albums. The first step is nominations. Nominate no more than two albums for post, please. Include a sentence or two for each album to explain why you're nominating it. If you like an album that someone else has nominated, post a comment seconding the nomination. We'll let this thread for go for about a week, after which I'll take all nominated and seconded albums and create a poll.

Greetings, intrepid heroes! I am pleased to present this month’s Superdraft. You will draft five heroes that fit certain roles. You will also draft one support character, a couple of adversaries, and a couple of non-character options. And a location, of course. Here are the specifics: Location: Choose a location for your team and your story. This is the first pick. Heroes: You will draft one hero to fill each of the following roles. The Leader: Pretty self-explanatory. This is the main protagonist. The Lancer: Second-in-command and general foil for the Leader. May be opposite in personality, temperament, and/or philosophy, or may just b…

The following is purely to vent. It's needed. Working at the forge a couple weeks ago, had a bunch of folks come through for a day of training and fun. Figured what better way to spend that than working on forging a new hammer that I've been eyeing for a while now -- a Japanese-style forging hammer. This would normally be done with a power hammer and/or press (which I don't have as it's a historic site that I forge at) to work a 3" diameter piece of 4140 round stock down to a 1.25" octagonal face, this was a great project for a group of strikers -- the guys that swing the big 10lb sledge while the lead smith (me) holds the steel and either directs with my o…

Bitdefender has made my desktop pretty much impossible to use. I have not-so-old (new in 2018) Win7 machine and I've got MalWareBytes running now. I had MWB running simultaneously with Bitdefender, but the latter recently decided the entire internet is a security threat, refusing to load pages, slowing down my browser to the point of uselessness. I had to deactivate it. I've got no issues with MalWareBytes, but I usually keep a couple of anti-malware systems running at once if at all possible. Is there anything else I should install? Recommendations from the Hero Forum would be welcome.

The big Arrowverse crossover this year is The Crisis on Infinite Earths, based on the 1985 DC Comics mini-series. Oliver Queen is doomed, because Arrow has been cancelled. The Flash will die, but somehow cheat death.* Will this be the greatest TV superhero show in history, or will we be disappointed? *Told you so. I'm conflicted. On the one hand it would be a good thing if they brought back the Multi-verse, but on the other hand Wil Wheaton was wiped out of existence. Don't pretend you weren't thinking it.

1. The show is shot in Ireland making it the worst thing to be produced in that country since the DeLorean. 2. A desperate attempt to get Lucky Charms to sponsor the show. 3. Saint Patrick's prophecy of the Irish taking over the Universe in 2200 has come true. 4. The only way they could convince Patrick Stewart to work for CBS is to tell him he's doing Angela's Ashes. 5. The work of Leprechauns. 6. The Irish colonized Romulus. 7. The Writers only watched a Chief O'Brien focused Episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine as research for the show. 8.
