I'll start the conversation, since nobody else has. How much interest is there in doing one or more Superdrafts in 2018? I have an idea that I could implement for February. It would start on the first Monday, run for two weeks, and include a twist that (as far as I know) has never been included in a Superdraft yet. I'll start putting things together if there's interest. We can also talk about what we might want to do in subsequent months. Who would be willing to run a draft, who would want to participate, when people would be able to do it, all that kind of thing. Feedback?

Charles Aznavour, one of the greatest singers in French music, has passed away at the age of 94. I only recently discovered his music, and he leaves a great legacy. He recorded in several languages, including English. "She", "Yesterday, When I Was Young", "Dance in the Old-Fashioned Way", and "What Makes a Man" are among the most notable songs he recorded in English. He often sang and wrote with a haunting, mournful tone that implied wistfulness and loss. This religious song from him seems appropriate:

Long-time Hero fans no doubt remember Doug Garrett, who wrote ESPIONAGE, DANGER INTERNATIONAL, and a whole bunch of other stuff for Hero Games back in the Eighties and Nineties. Doug's just published his first novel, an espionage thriller called REMEMBER WHEN, and I suggest you give it a look! Remember When on Amazon

Make sure you're home before the street lights come on, its time for the Kids On Bikes Science Fiction Superdraft! What's this draft about? This is about the subgenre of kids (aged 8-14) going on great adventures with some fantastical element to them, from originals like It or Goonies, to homages like Super 8 or Stranger Things. What are we drafting? Setting Kid Kid Kid Kid Benign Adult Antagonist Option Option Option Option Setting: Time and Place. Exclusive. Kid: A protagonist, aged 8 to 14. Just thinking about how things are done the same way over and over again in movies. Some ideas I thought of to start off 1) Maybe make the Freemasons the good guys for a change 2) Does the evil Greek god always have to be Hades? I mean you do realize you are using as the bad guy, when you got a certain other god who swallowed his damn children, seems that might work better for a villain. Hell, your "hero" god is a guy who could perpetuate a #MeToo movement that makes Harvey Weinstein looks chaste. 3) (maybe less common) If you are going to make one of the 4 elements the bad guy, why always fire? Note: ok, the ones I tho…

Hypothetical question: If New York City were no longer there (meteor impact, nuclear strike, alien death ray, whatever), which American city would become the new financial, cultural, and media (but not political) epicenter of the country? Chicago? Los Angeles? Philadelphia? Newark? Somewhere else? Convince me.

Senator John McCain Dead At Age 81 I voted for John McCain in the 2000 presidential primary though George W Bush and Al Gore went on to get their parties' nomination. I still believe we would have been better served by John McCain as president than either of those 2 gentlemen. In 2008, I voted for Barack Obama over John McCain, because McCain was no longer the better candidate. Still, I remember a time at one of his campaign rallies when he mentioned his opponent and the audience started booing and yelling racist things and McCain told them to stop and that his opponent was a good man and he just disagreed with him politically. His audience was displeased …

Welcome to the 2018 Ultimate SUPERDRAFT The first rule is that this is a SUPERHERO Draft And you are creating a comic book superhero universe. Feel free to draft from just about any source but the name of the game is Supers. If your heroes don't have powers and abilities beyond those of mortal men, use some of your picks to give them some. Power sets are non-exclusive but if you grab too many from already drafted characters your characters will be looked down on as knock offs by the industry. Mind you sometimes the knock off can be better than the original. Here is your ultimate goal: You will draft 30 characters, heroes, villains and support, to fi…

I can only imagine there are some serious history buffs on these boards. Maybe there is another thread, but I didn't see one. I have a question, and wondered if anyone knows the answer or sources. My Google-fu hasn't come up with anything. I'm looking for statistics on % of numbers killed or wounded vs. the total number... in landings like D-Day... Iwo Jima... etc. What were the odds of being hit in a hail of machine gun fire/mortar and artillery rounds, etc. Of X number of soldiers who hit the beaches at Utah or Omaha... Iwo Jima especially managed one of the most costly defenses, where more US Marines were lost than Japanese. There was a book, ba…

I'm looking for a large, even HD, version of Ariel, the little mermaid sitting on a rock but animated with her hair blowing in the moonlight. An animated gif is small but somewhere out there is a large version: I've seen it. I just cannot find it. Can anyone help?

The official site at CBS A video is available with a glimpse of the new ship design--it owes a debt to Ralph McQuarrie's design for the proposed sequel series back in the Seventies, except the delta-shaped secondary hull doesn't overwhelm the primary saucer hull the way it did in McQuarrie's art. I like the name Discovery. Perhaps we can have her sister ships named Challenger, Endeavour, Columbia and Atlantis. That would be a welcome tribute, I think. I will boldly go with this show. You don't have to join me, but it would be nice if you did.
