So, I have been reading the book on my brothers suggestion prior to the movie being released. First 10% or so is a slog as he gives description to where the world is at the time. Otherwise, very enjoyable. I especially like the 60s - 80s references in the book. I am at where he got the 3rd key, so I don't believe that is a spoiler. I have not finished the book yet. This brings me to my 2 questions: The previews make it look VERY Hunger Games in him leading an army. Maybe that happens in book and the previews are just focusing on it. Do we think that "Suits" make the movie focus on this? Will they keep the obscure 80s video and RPG references or …

https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/24/us/schoolhouse-rock-creator-died-trnd/index.html The creator of Schoolhouse Rock has passed. Rest in Peace, Sir. I've sung your songs - and not always by choice - ever since I was a wee one.

The Weird West I feel like we have done a similar draft before but this draft is all about cowboy heroes versus monsters. Whether it's Jonah Hex versus the Walking Dead, or The Lone Ranger versus the Wolfman, this draft is all about cowboys versus monsters. The draft will start on April 2 at 5pm Eastern Standard. The first pick is location. The picks after this can come in any order. One monster/eldritch abomination/ or fiend of your choice. Five cowboys of your choice. Victorian heroes such as Sherlock Holmes may be picked, but nothing after 1900, and only published heroes set in the time period. Masked heroes are restricted to Zorr…

...well I'm back. Now get those snot nosed hobbit brats off my favourite chair, Rosie. Having been absent from the world of RPG for some time I'm now in the middle of somewhat of a roleplaying revival and seem to be busier than ever with it so naturally I need more excuses to eat up time that I should be better spending elsewhere, hence my reappearance here. What did I miss?

Cruise missiles hitting Syria as I type this. Focus appears to be on Damascus but other locations have been hit as well including military bases and research facilities. B-1 bombers are involved; not sure if they launched the missiles or are actually over Syria. French forces may also be involved. RAF Tornados also said to be involved.

Who is your favorite legacy or sidekick character? A legacy hero is a descendant or relative of an already or previously existing hero who either inherits or adopts the name and attributes of the original. This includes blood relatives of main heroes or 'adopted' members of a main character's 'work' family such as sidekicks.

Here's the idea: You will be given a letter of the alphabet. You must choose three heroes whose names begin with that letter, and describe the mission these three heroes will fulfill. Then, choose another letter. Example: B Heroes: Bond (James), Beowulf, Bouncing Boy Mission: The three heroes must join forces to stop a time-traveling madman from destroying the universe. Heroes may be from any genre. First, last, and code names are all acceptable. Clear enough? Let's start with the letter S.

Japanese animator Isao Takahata has died at the age of 81. One of the co-founders, with Hayao Miyazaki, of the legendary animation studio Studio Gibhli, Takahata's best-known work as a director is the World War II tragedy Grave of the Fireflies. He also served as producer on some of Miyazaki's greatest films, and did more recent directing work including My Neighbors the Yamadas and The Tale of Princess Kaguya. As a director, his colleague may have eclipsed him in the public eye, but Takahata was a brilliant man in his own right, and he had a vital role in the creation of several masterpieces of the art of animation.

I was watching youtube, and I got a commercial that kind of shocked me. I've never been much impressed with "talk tough" slogans on clothing, possibly because I gave up on thinking of myself as manly a long time ago. Also, I like the United States, but sometimes intense (possibly violent) patriotism makes me uncomfortable. Anyway, I wondered at first why I'd think it was odd to get that commercial. Then it occurred to me that it was because usually the algorithms these sites use are much better targeted. I think I might be getting these because some of my friends on facebook are very conservative and enthusiastic about gun culture, even though our interactio…

Planet of the Apes (1968) In 1972 a spacecraft is launched from Earth to a planet 300 light years away on a flight expected to take 2000 years. The three surviving Crew Members discover a society run by talking apes who enslave mute savage humans. The lone survivor discovers that the ship has returned to a future Earth devastated by a nuclear war. The main plot whole is who would fund a mission that would never actually return for thousands of years. Why choose a star 300 light years away when the nearest star is 4 light years ago, a mere 30 years flight time? And if the ship is traveling close to the speed of light then the flight time to a st…
